Anyone experienced in dating furniture?

Wondered if anyone could help. My husband is about to skip this set of drawers, but i thought i'd check first if anyone knew anything about them? I doubt they're worth anything but any information on the period would be interesting.

Well I had a fling with a leather wing backed chair, but it didn’t work out….

ShirleyPhallus · 08/05/2023 14:18

A table took me out for dinner once but it never went further than that

I have only dated men , I think going on a date with a set of draws may be a wooden .

Lol sorry @Isthatascratchonmygrandmother I couldn't resist.

I can't help with the age of your item but hoping this bump helps .

Wfhandbored · 08/05/2023 14:19

Does shagging a sideboard count as dating?

ScottBakula · 08/05/2023 14:20

Ha ha I'm glad I am not the only the only one 😂

PriamFarrl · 08/05/2023 14:21

I went to the cinema with a chest of drawers but it didn’t really work out.

Bimbom · 08/05/2023 14:21

I was chatting online to what I thought was a lovely Eames chair. When we met for coffee turned out to be from Argos

Isthatascratchonmygrandmother · 08/05/2023 14:21

Hahaha. I thought it was too good to be true the comments filling up that fast. Well done mumsnetters 👏 🤣

I’ve just started seeing a chaise lounge. Sofa, so good!

OnMyWayToSenility · 08/05/2023 14:25

Probably from 1920/30 or later. Not worth much m. But if you like them go for it .

Isthatascratchonmygrandmother · 08/05/2023 14:25

I suppose I've only got my-shelf to blame.

Don't skip it Sad

SoupDragon · 08/05/2023 14:32

I did once go out with an artist called Chester Draws.

(I'd guess 30s for the drawers. They have that square, brown look. Personally I think they are lovely!)

KirstenBlest · 08/05/2023 14:32

I went out with a right plank for a while

KeziaOAP · 08/05/2023 14:34

1930s lovely solid drawers just right for upcycling.

MyCatsSlave · 08/05/2023 14:36

Love the replies on this thread 😂

SoupDragon · 08/05/2023 14:37

If you're anywhere near Croydon I'll save them!

Runningoncoffeealone · 08/05/2023 14:38

Ah, the thread I didn't know I needed to read today 😂😂😂
Not sure about the age but they're beautiful!

AgentProvocateur · 08/05/2023 14:39

I was thinking dating furniture was a milder version of a sex chair 😂

Plump82 · 08/05/2023 14:42

I'm not witty enough to come up with anything funny but just wanted to say I'd not get rid of them. They're lovely! Wee bit TLC and they'd make some excellent storage.

lemonchiffonpie · 08/05/2023 14:44

The knobs are really interesting, and so is the shape. But the angles of the photos make them hard to get a good look at and date. I wouldn't chuck them out.
