What’s Happening In Your House?

Morning everyone - hope you’re having a lovely weekend so far. I had planned to catch up on The Coronation on I Player last night but we watched BGT instead & had a lovely mini roast ( chicken breasts with fresh rosemary, shed loads of roasties, broccoli & posh gravy). Also watched Greys Anatomy. I had a horrid night ( my Vit B12 injection is due but like an idiot, I hadn’t ordered it & now have to wait until Tuesday). That explains some of my other symptoms over the last few days too. Never imagined a lack of something could make you feel so dreadful!
Had planned a cream tea this aft with family but they’re leaving earlier than I thought so will just pop over to see them late morning. I’ve already seen DBRO & DN so need to catch up with DSIL.
We have no fridge/freezer atm so have to be a bit more organised with meals. I have Jersey Royals so need to buy something to go with them. I love salmon but DH isn’t a fan of fish, apart from battered! Might do a bit of decluttering later & sort the kitchen/bathroom. DD14 dyes her hair often & although she does her best, it gets everywhere!
Not sure of BH Mon plans yet. DH has decided to work. I might meet up with friends late afternoon.

Yes @mynameiscalypso it does get better in lots of ways the older they get. I’m not a morning person and always found the early starts hard. Dh is better in the morning and always did his fair share - more than his fair share really - those early mornings during the darker months were a total killer! I remember the sun finally coming up and I would be ready to go back to bed having been up 3 hours already 😂
I love weekends now no one wakes me up before 9 although annoyingly my body clock tends to have me awake by 7, I still just lie in bed reading or watching telly unless it’s an exercise day.
There is hope! You won’t always be a hostage of Peppa Pig!

Hedjwitch · 07/05/2023 09:45

In bed with coffee and cat.
Leaving about 11 to catch up with dd2 for coffee so ds will have to haul himself out of bed if he wants to come. Older kids is absolutely the best stage!

mynameiscalypso · 07/05/2023 09:46

Thank you @TheChosenTwo for giving me hope! I'm also grumpy because it was my turn to lie in this morning but I couldn't get back to sleep so squandered my chance 😂

Todaynotalways · 07/05/2023 09:51

DD6 woke up at 8 - she seems recovered from yesterday's sore throat.

DH and DD watched She-Ra while I slept in to 8:45.

DH made pancakes and I raised my sleepy head.

Now we're taking turns to have a shower and oversee DD's homework.

Later DH will take DD to the fun fair, I have opted out as I dislike funfairs. I'll do some sort of light chore while they're gone.

MeinKraft · 07/05/2023 09:52

Screens for everybody, even the toddler. I'm knackered despite not doing much yesterday.

VioletCharlotte · 07/05/2023 09:54

I was out early this morning for a dog walk, now eating my breakfast (granola, fruit and yogurt) while scrolling Mumsnet.

Im going to the garden centre with DM in an hour so need to get dressed (out of dog walking clothes!). Im looking to buy some plants for the front garden so hoping the rain will stay away so I can get them planted.

Young adult DS is still in bed, where he'll probably remain for the next couple of hours. Not sure what he's doing today, but Im pretty sure it'll involve watching football!

Sunnysidegold · 07/05/2023 09:54

Morning all.

I have returned to bed with a coffee to read / scroll Mumsnet.

Was up with dog at 6.30 and had a cup of coffee outside listening to birds while he sniffed round the garden. He was happy so I thought I'd make the most of the dry weather and do some tidying in the garden - edged a flower bed and trimmed some old branches.

Back in bed now to rest while dog sleeps.

Notimeforaname · 07/05/2023 09:57

Havin tea in bed, watching tv. Going to the garden centre later, need to repot veg plants and sow some more.

ssd · 07/05/2023 10:07

Have had breakfast, watching tv myself now. Washing machine is on, think its to be dry so will hang it out.
Everyone here away to football so ill be home alone, will chill hopefully and not feel anxious, which tends to happen if i have too much spare time.

Sudokufail · 07/05/2023 10:14

Not much happening here. About to jump in the shower and meet pals at the local tea rooms. Just heard the cat come in :)

Squirrel28 · 07/05/2023 10:32

Walked the dog. Dog is now slightly damp and rolling around on the sofa. 🙄I did a lot of driving yesterday (6 hour round trip), which was fine as I got to do an extensive car concert starring ME in every role in Hamilton, but does mean that now I really don’t fancy all the cleaning that needs to be done today.

Chelsea26 · 07/05/2023 10:42

Oh I love a good car concert @Squirrel28 - I’m excellent at Les mis and Joseph!

im currently walking the dog and writing a shopping list in my head for Sainsbury’s when I get back.

DP and our neighbour are building a new garden fence so I’ve been on tea and bacon sandwich duty this morning.

DS2 and DSS are playing on the switch and DSD And lodger are yet to surface!

Street party later with all our lovely neighbours and hopefully DM and niece and nephew.

Ribs and wings for dinner

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 07/05/2023 10:46

I’ve walked the dogs and cleaned the house. Now waiting for friends to arrive and Dh is going to work. Dc at work already.

Squirrel28 · 07/05/2023 10:52

Ooh I didn’t even get to Les Mis, @Chelsea26 😁
I do an excellent version of ‘On My Own’ if I do say so myself. 😆

MsRead · 07/05/2023 10:52

Relaxing after cooking and eating a full beef roast dinner with freshly cut cabbage gifted from our fabulous green fingered neighbours ( dog has had some of the meat… husband rolled his eyes, Lord knows why because I often catch him giving her delicious treats) and now listening to the seemingly never ending rain watching Prunella Scales and Tim West on a canal journey ( thank goodness for Uk tv download sites).

Due to cyclones impacting prices of apples ( no cheap ones near us which is unusual for the time of year) I didn’t make a proper apple pie and gibbed out with vanilla ice cream cornet, DH very happy, dog still mithering around the kitchen because she knows there is a large piece of leftover beef and roast potatoes in the fridge, will leave dh and DDog to work out who gets what between them.

Lovely autumnal evening

whataballbag · 07/05/2023 10:59

I'm having a brew in peace whilst both DS's are playing upstairs in eldests bedroom. They're still primary age (one very young primary) so it's definitely a novelty!

Got a wash on and need to tidy up the house. Do some cleaning. Might move some furniture round upstairs. Thinking of popping up to the cemetery later to take some flowers for their Dad.

Then try and persuade them to do some homework and reading time.

I love these threads and seeing how different people spend their days.

UrbanMage · 07/05/2023 14:15

My DH is painting the spare room, DD is "helping" slash being in her playroom watching some Netflix and playing with her toys.
I've got Grey's anatomy on my iPad and have cooked a chilli for tonight, cleaned the kitchen and am building myself up to putting a wash on (the wash that's been in my washer for 2 days...). I've also loaded a basket for my online shop and planned the weeks meals. I need to walk the dog, but the lazy sod isn't interested

yikesanotherbooboo · 07/05/2023 14:37

DH sleeping off last night. DDog waiting for a walk. DS and DDil are preparing to cook for tonight and looking after DGD who is being a baby. I have finished my mundane tasks for the day and if the weather holds will go for a walk and if it doesn't will tackle one of the many glory holes at home.

Silkierabbit · 07/05/2023 14:50

We went swimming at our local hotel pool and to jacuzzi and sauna. Then got burgers from McDonalds, I had the steakhouse stack, too peppery for me but OK, then had a bath and having a milky coffee. Dd has just gone out to see her boyfriend. Ds is watching TV.

Will do gardening at 3.30pm, have 14 plants to plant and some weeding to do.

Stressybetty · 07/05/2023 14:52

Not a lot. Done washing up, tidied kitchen, fed dogs etc. Sausage sandwich. Need to hang partly dried duvet cover out and tidy things away in utility room. Keeping an eye on dogs playing in and outside. Then paint utility. Newcastle match later and coronation concert tonight. Got to lay new floor in utility so hopefully start that tomorrow.

Beezknees · 07/05/2023 14:54

Currently sat in a beer garden with a cider. DS15 at a mate's but heading back in a hour or so. I'll go home shortly and get some washing on and make us a lasagne for tea.

Natsku · 07/05/2023 15:05

OH is playing guitar in the basement, DD is reading in her room, DS is playing minecraft on the sofa, and I'm doing practice driving theory tests and in a moment I'll cook dinner.

Did the food shop earlier while DS and OH went to the playground. DD has only come out of her room to brush her teeth and eat lunch with me, otherwise she's been holed up in her room all day either studying or reading her newest library book.

Theoldwoman · 07/05/2023 15:08

Just finished watching MasterChef Australia. It’s just after 10pm, the wind is blowing which I find calmly soothing. DH is watching tv. DD21 not long home and getting food ready for tomorrow. DD20 fast asleep as up at 4am for work.

CosmosQueen · 07/05/2023 15:33

Just eaten too much roast beef etc and a pudding (apple and peach crumble with ice cream) so feeling lethargic.
Two loads of washing drying nicely on the line, DH asleep in the chair, DD has gone up to bed for a snooze, the dogs are asleep too. Very dozy household.
I need to make the bed, I’ve read the papers, I probably should do some gardening but cba.

TheChosenTwo · 07/05/2023 16:05

Now sitting in a pub garden with dh and ds, his friend is here with his family so they’re sitting together talking about whatever crap 11yo boys talk about, dh has gone to get us another drink. It’s turned out beautifully sunny, we planned to have roast lamb but will fire up the bbq and have it cooked on there instead tonight.
