I write notes to myself on my left hand like 'to dos' abbreviated. Eg 'chem' for chemist.,

I can only fill up with petrol at one of two filling stations. I find them weirdly intimidating. One of them is about to close for refurbishment. I'm anxious until it reopens.

ChaToilLeam · 05/05/2023 17:19

When we had cats, it was compulsory for DP and I to describe their activities in Shakespearean English. “What doth Bobby?” “He sleepeth. He hath eaten greatly of the kitty bix.”

UnDruidlyWords · 05/05/2023 17:29

@TheNecessaryWoman, I like a brolly sunshade too, it makes a lot of sense.

I've also used an old style fold-up fan in hot weather for the last 25 years, though not the same one. It's incredibly effective.

I have three shelves for mugs, the Premier league shelf for the nice posh ones, the Championship shelf for the ones that are all right, and the League one shelf for all the rubbish mugs that I hate. I get very annoyed if they are put in the wrong place.

SquirrelFan · 05/05/2023 17:48

@whatcanidotobelieve I count quite a lot, not to the point of exhaustion, though. And it's often in multiples of 8-more satisfying that way!

Neverknowinglysensible · 05/05/2023 12:50

Totally

People who don't talk to their cats should NOT have cats.

I thought everyone knew this... 😻

I've got 3 I can cope with. 2 are Tesco and 1 is Waitrose.

I add extra characters to films and TV programmes. So I'm keeping track of the storyline but in my head I'm also adding lines for my characters to say. Sometimes in reality type programmes too. My characters are generally quite sensible but also well liked!

Not so much now but when I was a child I used to daydream whole extra storylines for the characters in films or programmes I'd watched.

I have to scrape every last bean out of the can. I just feel so sorry for any that I miss, never getting to fulfil their job as a baked bean and being left behind!

But then wonder if really they are the survivors that escape the cruel fate of being boiled like the rest of them. I clearly think too much.

Plain egg noodles smothered in butter and salt is a guilty pleasure of mine. Also Scotch egg sandwiches.

GreenMarigold · 05/05/2023 18:08

Oh and when I’m sitting I also constantly write words in the air with my big toe. It’s never anything interesting but I do it without thinking and have done it for as long as I can remember!

whatcanidotobelieve · 05/05/2023 18:08

@beeskipa

I understand what you're saying, but I have no other signs or symptoms of OCD (I don't think?)...so maybe not OCD and just a weird quirk? 🤷‍♀️

This has to be the best comment I’ve read today……

A game of Mornington Crescent.

Me too, @GreenMarigold. In fact I extend this to absolutely everything - I cannot stand it if I feel like something hasn’t fulfilled its purpose, whether that’s an apple that’s gone wrinkly or a newspaper that never got read. Probably some generalised anxiety about waste, I guess, but I do tend to think of it in a weirdly anthropomorphic way, like, ‘oh no, don’t worry, it doesn’t mean you weren’t good enough’ 😂

Thursa · 05/05/2023 18:56

Surely it’s odd not to talk to your pets?

I cannot picture the eating of burgers in layers.

I bash my toast with the blunt end of the knife before buttering to make yummy buttery puddles 🤤

Oooh genius idea

We hang wet laundry on the clothes horse in an order based on how much we like each item and things we don’t like as much can’t go next to our favourite items. I’ve always had this foible whereas I think DH only absorbed it through living with me. It gives me a bit of a twitch if I watch somebody hanging their laundry any old way, but they’re usually baffled at the concept of having a special order.

Wtf

Talking to animals

> And making up their response in a funny voice

I blame Johnny Morris. Well, it amuses me.

I do this all the time with my cat. 😂 I too blame Johnny Morris.

Slice bananas on my curry. I am advised this is disgusting

This is amazing - we love it!

Setting a place for dcat at the table...
He loves his veg and having tea with us!

This is brilliant!
Hahah wow I'm loving this idea of yours😁😆

Irridescantshimmmer · 05/05/2023 19:30

I don't use mains or grid electricity to charge my phone and tablet in spring, summer and autumn.

I charge some of my lights as well as devices above from 2 AGM batteries powered by solar.

RicherThanYews · 07/05/2023 15:01

I have at least 50 soft toys. Only 3 are from childhood. They all have names, one of them is more special than all the others and has a sassy personality. She owns more clothes than me.

This made me feel physically sick

But stuffing a huge abnormal sized sarnie into a normal sized mouth for a bite is equally gross

I Whatsapp myself things I need to do when I remember. The message chain is then a working to-do list. Easy when I don't have my diary/paper with me.

I email myself a to do list on weekdays

CharlottenBerg · 07/05/2023 15:41

I talk to my teddy bear Edward, and he answers me. He is, oddly, exactly as fluent in French as I am, (he calls me 'Maman' and DP 'Papa', and Puss 'la chatte') and when we have watched our regular weekly French film, he comments about the plot (he likes Marion Cotillard). DP was a bit surprised at first, but now he speaks to Edward and expects an answer. I am sad to say the Ed has a salty turn of phrase and says things like 'putain' and 'merde'. He has called me and DP 'les dingues' but we love him.
