Play suits shouldn't be worn over the age of 4

The NHS need to make clearer that weaning at 4 months is not at all dangerous for a baby’s gut/health, and that the advice is based on exclusive breastfeeding until ‘around’ 6 months.. not even ‘from’ 6 months. It would save a lot of arguments between new and competitive ‘Im a better mother than you’ people who think that ‘around 6 months’ means dot on the day or later, and that ‘virgin gut’ is still relevant at 4 months old as opposed to 2 weeks post birth.
6 months is recommended by WHO because they are ‘world’ health, so third world countries follow their advice too and it is not safe to cook with unclean water in third world countries and feel that to babies. First world countries are absolutely fine to feed their babies at 4 months old - in fact I believe they’ve just come out with the research to suggest that weaning earlier than 6 months can prevent a lot of serious allergies.

Scout badges should be self adhesive.

It's easier to get a teabag out with a fork not a teaspoon.

I've just now tested this out and found it's true! Habit of a lifetime changed! Thank you @turquoisediamond! 😊 👍

@Rosscameasdoody It's not that I dislike fish and chips per se. And I've had some great fish and chips from time to time, especially on seaside holidays. It's just that too often I'm half-way through and found I've myself thinking, "Wow, this is hard going! Am I really enjoying this? I think I'd rather have had beans on toast!" Especially when I'd just paid out a small fortune for me and the rest of the family.

The most recent time I ordered just three portions for a quick tea from our local takeaway for me, daughter and son = £35! I almost fell over but still handed over the money before my shocked brain could respond and decide to have something else.

But if I'm ever on the Wirral (and I was born in Liverpool although no longer live there), I'll try to remember to check out your recommendations!

In the 70s and 80s we were encouraged to wean our babies at 4 months old - baby rusks, mashed bananas etc - just a tiny bit at a time while still breast or bottle feeding. I'm not aware that this practice did any harm....though I was a bit surprised when I found my lovely mum and dad feeding our small baby with Mr Whippy ice-cream. He loved it!

OneFrenchEgg · 05/05/2023 18:50

Yes - my dd was weaned at 3 months and the boys at 4 - I think my fifth was at six months (age gap is large) which was quite weird!

WedTheBed · 05/05/2023 19:42

Yes I believe the with evidence the advice to wean at 3 months was totally abolished due to being unsafe; however the advice from 4 months to 6 months was nothing to do with safety but to do with encouragement of exclusive breastfeeding.

OneFrenchEgg · 05/05/2023 19:47

It's funny (and anecdata) but the least fussy and intolerant (as in lactose intolerant as a baby) is the oldest, weaned on jars at three months!

pam290358 · 05/05/2023 20:31

@OneFrenchEgg So. I was in Morrisons this afternoon. Doing the weekend shop, as you do. Meandering down the sweetie aisle I remembered this thread. So into my basket went two dark chocolate Bounties. Legged it round to the baking aisle and grabbed a foil pack of ready to eat dried pineapple. Could hardly wait to get home, such was the anticipation of little golden yellow nuggets packed into coconutty loveliness !! I wasn’t disappointed. Slightly more fiddly than raisins, as you have to trim the pineapple pieces first, but definitely worth it. Now I’m thinking white rum !!

Gender reveal /baby showers are shit and show offy. Also no one fucking cares.

I agree that Friends is turgid, laboured and entirely unfunny. I was once coerced into watching an episode by a "friend."

Luckily, it wasn't on the 14th floor of a tower block, or I would have hurled myself off in despair.

Holidays aren't worth the effort

Absolutely.
Pre-DC, always a bit of a let down, glad to be home again.
With DC, an eye-wateringly expensive feat of endurance.

Whatever they do to the outside of tiger bread to make it tigerbready is an abomination. Ruin perfectly edible bread with a coating of dried sugary vomit.

Fink · 05/05/2023 22:14

Lots of activities aimed at smallish children are actually quite a nice day out (although you do have to bring small children to not look like a weirdo): petting farms, soft play, for bigger kids high ropes & water parks. I genuinely enjoy them.

Fake meat is totally pointless. I’m vegetarian for a reason, I don’t want to eat anything that tastes or looks like a dead animal.

I'm actually excited to go shopping tomorrow! Rum is inspired.

Musicals are shit.
If I want songs, I go to a concert.
And if I want good acting, to the theatre.
Both of them together just does not happen for the majority of musicals out there! Yuck
And they are boring...

I never understand this argument. It didn't come from a dead animal though. Fine if it grosses you out but not all vegetarians/vegans feel that way. It isn't the taste or look of meat they generally object to but the source. It's not totally pointless if you like meat but not how it's produced and want something something somewhat akin to it without requiring the death of a cow/pig/sheep etc

HoldingTheDoor · 05/05/2023 23:14

Terry's Chocolate oranges are disgusting. As is orange chocolate generally.

Crumpleton · 05/05/2023 23:18

Just been out for a meal...
Try something different they say..
Chilli oil stir fry...what the heck.
May not have a Y on the end but there's nothing chilly about chilli.
Shockingly hot 🔥 🥵 and didn't even have any pictures of🌶🌶by the wording to gauge heat of said chilli oil as with all the other chilli dishes on the menu.

My tongue is shot to pieces..
