What colour is your bedroom?

Looking for ideas.

Not long moved into our new house and our bedroom is a white box (4.2 x 2.7). The previous owner white washed the place before putting it on the market so we're working with a blank canvas.

We have new bedroom furniture being delivered at the end of the month and want to have the room recarpeted and painted before it arrives.

Please help me decide on a colour scheme.

Little Greene Roman Plaster on walls and joinery with a massive hand-painted peacock mural in pinks/red/teal/olive on the chimney breast. It was inspired by the pattern of a Little Greene wallpaper but I chose colours that are reflected in the textiles and accessories we have in the room.

So, our bedroom furniture is antique art nouveau oak, lamps are vintage 1980s red ceramic brought up to date with pink/red pooky shades and the curtains are taupe with teal embroidery (Clarke & Clarke Woburn). The bedding is taupe linen from ikea with a teal/taupe/pink cotton throw from Doing Goods and velvet cushions in toning colours (made by me). On the walls we've got a mix of botanical and vintage pre-raphaelite prints.

Adjacent to the chimney breast there's a built-in floor to ceiling bookcase with some of my and DH's favourite books. There's a small window seat with a view over the garden. This has a pinky/red seat cushion plus a couple of other cushions in pink/teal/olive - it's where I sit to read.

We're in the process of painting the floor - in Little Greene Lamp Black which we have used elsewhere - and we have a large teal/terracotta/taupe Liberty wool rug based on a Voysey design beneath the bed for warmth under foot. Light fittings are bronze coloured Moroccan lantern style.

It's very eclectic and I love it.

White. With all white bedding and curtains too, just feels very calming, have bright colours in other areas of the house.

Mine is green. Pine furniture & teal curtains.

Am I the only one who painted with B&Q's own brand paint rather than the expensive stuff like Farrow and Ball? I feel like I live in an alternate universe and everyone else's house looks like a hotel room.

I have rooms painted with cheap and expensive paints.
As far as I can tell, the differences are - expensive colour is “more” (I guess vibrant?), much better coverage, and it looks freshly painted for much longer. Cheap paint loses its colour vibrancy fairly quickly.

My decorator (who is very skilled, he also does NT properties) prefers to paint with Dulux and says expensive paints are thicker and a bit more of a PITA to use (though he does it at clients request).

My bedroom is white with a turquoise wall papered feature wall, white furniture.
Previous house bedroom was pale yellow and grey.

This when we get round to it. Doors/ architrave/ picture rail white. Oak flooring.

We have that in our living rooms and it’s gorgeous-you’ll love it!

My bedroom is a warm off white (dulux timeless) , cream carpet and oak bed and nightstands

My bedroom is timeless with raspberry pink bedding. 4 Oak chest of drawers, Oak bedside small chest, built in mirrored robes. It's not very imaginative and probably needs doing after our living room. Our spare room is pale duck egg blue with white bedding.

I love dark colours 😍 Our dining room is black! We are lucky to have 9ft ceilings so we thought why the hell not and it totally works!

Black on all walls. Sounds awful but it looks amazing

This sounds like heaven to me. I love black walls!

Pale blue with white wooden furniture and minimal 'stuff'. I love it every time I walk into it.

Ooh , I love your lampshade , is it from Cream ? 😍

@SoFreshAndSoClean I think from what you say in your last post, I would keep the wall colour neutral and choose some nice things to go in the room to add the colour. Personally I love bringing in colour and character with art. I have Molesworth and Bird seaweed prints which tie in with the colour of the cushions on the bed and the blinds. It's very simple art and not fussy.

In terms of which neutral, that depends on the direction your room is facing. If it's south facing you can use a cooler tone (e.g. ammonite F&B)), but if it's north facing you may want a warmer tone (e.g. shaded white F&B). Skimming stone is always a good bet for an inoffensive neutral. It will also depend on the colour of the accents you want.

In summary, I would just paint it a neutral colour and add bits and pieces from there. I agree it's nice to have the walls painted before you move your furniture in, but I'm a fan of slow decorating. Theres no rush, take your time to add to the room and get the look you want!

Our room is South East facing so lots of lovely morning and early afternoon light. The only thing about artwork is that the only 2 walls we have are to either side of the bed. The window is behind the headboard (it's big so takes up most of the wall) and the door and built in wardrobes are at the foot of the bed.

The new bed is very heavy so we ideally want the carpet laid before the bed arrives to avoid having to lift it and it seems daft not to paint the walls before the carpet goes down , hence the rush.

I think I'm swaying towards cream carpet, cream/off white walls and oak furniture with nice warm light from bedside lamps.

My livingroom is very natural/earthy colours - cream, brown and teal.
The office is ochre, navy and light grey.
DC's room is white (wall and furniture) with lots of coloured prints and colourful bedding.

Cream on 3 walls, pink on the 4th. It's due to be decorated in the summer, when I'll have it turquoise on 3 walls, a patterned paper on the 4th
