Prefect cup of tea

Ok boring I know but how do you make a perfect cup of tea? Do you for example use loose or tea bags , straight from kettle or a teapot?
I put a tea bag in with my milk and then add the hot water and let it sit for a few seconds as I do not like it too strong. Ohh also has to be typhoo not flavoured stuff for me.

Never milk in first 😱
Tea bag in mug, fill with just boiled water, let steep for around 5 mins, squeeze and remove teabag, add milk. Tea should be the colour of He Man 😂

MILK FIRST?! Wtf is wrong with you .
Teabag, hot water, 4-5 minutes to brew, a splash of mil, remove the teabag and it’s perfect.

MyMachineAndMe · 29/04/2023 23:29

Fresh water in the kettle each time if possible. Loose leaf tea in the teapot, boiling water poured over, leave to mash for a good few minutes. Milk in the cup, then pour in the tea.

Small amount of milk first, add Clipper organic tea bag, pour in boiling water, leave 1-2 mins, remove and stir

Turquoisa80 · 29/04/2023 23:34

Tea bag(Tetley's) , boiling water in, steep for 2mins, teabag out and add a very small amount of milk

ArbitraryHaddock · 29/04/2023 23:35

Warm the pot, fresh water in kettle. Loose tea into pot, always Yorkshire tea. Pour just boiled water into pot, stir twice anti clockwise, leave under thick cosy for five minutes. Pour, add a tiny dash semi skimmed milk.

WinginItAtDIY · 29/04/2023 23:36

Tea bag, add kettle water, 2 sugars, give a good stir add milk, remove ttea bag once color ok.
I used to only drink really weak milky tea but now prefer it stronger and much less milk. Dh often adds too much milk and makes me feel sick in the morning

AnElegantChaos · 29/04/2023 23:39

Straight from the kettle and try to leave the tea bag in for as long as possible so it brews before putting milk in. I like it strong but also quite milky although I wouldn't dream of putting milk in first!

eyesfullofstars · 30/04/2023 00:18

Never put the milk in first!

Teabag and hot water with sugar if you have it, leave for a couple of minutes then add the milk, squeeze the teabag with the spoon a few times until it goes a few shades darker then it’s ready.

kitsuneghost · 30/04/2023 00:25

Milk first, 2 teabags, hot water then stand for 10 min.

CallieQ · 30/04/2023 00:30

M&S gold teabags...

CallieQ · 30/04/2023 00:31

Never milk first

PinkButtercups · 30/04/2023 00:35

Milk in first?! That's a red flag! 🤣.

Teabag in come (twinings for me) with 2 sweetners.
Add freshly boiled water (water has to be fresh).
Let it sit there for a minute or two (any longer I find it has those weird brown floaty things).
Milk and agree with PP 'he man colour' 🤣.

2 biscuits to go alongside my glorious cup of tea.

PinkButtercups · 30/04/2023 00:35

Cup not come.

Qwaszx · 30/04/2023 00:37

For me....

Warm the pot, loose tea is preferable, boiling water, steep for 5 mins, pour into a warmed bone china mug. No milk or sugar, sometimes I add a slice of lemon.

My brother.... teabag and half a pint of milk in a chunky mug. 🤮🤮

The only thing we have in common is the boiling water🤣

Anniissa · 30/04/2023 00:43

I’m very specific over tea - must be Earl Grey or Lady Grey or Lapsang Souchon or Green Tea (unless herbal style). Hot almost boiling water, no milk (slice lemon with Earl Grey maybe), small spoon sugar unless green or herbal tea.

Enko · 30/04/2023 00:48

Only drink Earl Grey only tea leaves never bags. no milk.

Yes I know many will find it weird. Its how I like it.

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/04/2023 01:01

OP, you cannot put milk in first! Tea needs boiling water to release its flavour properly.

I preheat the mug with hot water, then pour the boiling water over the tea bag and leave it a good few minutes until I reckon it will be the colour of he man as PP says, squeeze on the side for good measure, take it out and add the milk.

Punjana makes the best He Man tea

kwetu · 30/04/2023 01:06

Gotta be Yorkshire tea and NEVER milk first!

pizzaHeart · 30/04/2023 01:10

Never milk first - seeing this makes my blood boil.

Nottogetapenny · 30/04/2023 01:13

Always a teapot, M&S extra strong tea bag, put teabag in pot, add freshly boiled water leave for about 5 mins before pouring. I add a touch of milk to cup before pouring the tea, perfect cup of tea!

Rasputinsbeard · 30/04/2023 01:46

I can't drink tea made in a cup, Tetley teabags in a pot, boiling water and just a tiny bit of sugar, stir and leave to brew for 3-5 minutes. No milk for me but milk for others goes in first, then sugar, then tea. Mine has to be in the right cup (obviously) and I have different cups for different times of day Blush

BarelyLiterate · 30/04/2023 01:56

I always use Yorkshire tea, and I prefer the standard blend to Yorkshire Gold.
Usually, I buy loose leaf tea & make a pot, but sometimes a bag will have to do.
The pot must be warmed, and the water must be boiling when it hits the tea leaves. Then the tea must be brewed for at least 5 minutes. Tea should be strong. It is not dishwater.
Then, a splash of milk in the mug & pour the tea. It should be a rich copper colour, and should taste somewhat bitter & tannic.

What you said totally exactly

Ideal cup of tea: Loose Yorkshire tea in a pot. Steep for 3 minutes. Turn the pot. Pour into my nice mug. Add milk.

Daily cup of tea: Yorkshire teabag in a mug. Add boiling water straight to the mug. Let steep for 2-3 minutes. Remove teabag (don't squeeze). Add milk.
