Perfumes you wish existed

Just been for a walk and remembered how divine oil seed rape smells. I want a perfume or a room spray of it.

And one of dad's garage...oil, wd40, rotten wood, cobwebs etc.

Any niche smells you want bottled?

Library of Fragrance do baby powder and Petrichor as pp has said.
Loads of hyacinth, lily of the valley perfumes around (Yardley and Dior Diorissimo have pure Lily of the valley fragrances)

Maison Margiela Replica do a book one. It's called library something.

Whispers in the Library

It genuinely pains me that impulse 02 literally was a body spray, the exact ingredient list exists somewhere, it would be the simplest thing in the world to bring it back. And still, they don't 😭😭😭I feel like one tiny sniff of that stuff might actually rip a hole in the space-time continuum, and transport me right back to 1997.

RelaxingClassics · 29/04/2023 20:22

Valentino used to have a perfume called Very Valentino and it was my absolute favourite so I wish that existed now.

But also... The smell of a hot summer day in the country. The smell of Parma violets.

Actually loads of perfumes I loved have been discontinued. I must have a very unfashionable sense of smell.

canina · 29/04/2023 20:25

A combination of green notes, neroli and camphor
Fragrantica says there is no such perfume Sad

DrMadelineMaxwell · 29/04/2023 20:26

I'd be happy if body shop could bring back their just musk perfume that I remember so fondly from the 90s.

DD wants fairy fabric conditioner as a perfume.

Wishona · 29/04/2023 20:26

The smell of opening an antique sideboard

Ihateboris · 29/04/2023 20:34

The smell of my labrador's head 😍

Cantsayanything · 29/04/2023 20:41

Fallen trees after a storm.

Wet moss.

There was a Korres Iris and Lily of the Valley perfume that they discontinued. Reminded me of my nan but not in an old lady perfume way.

I would be the only one to buy this next scent request, the natural smell of my Mum that was on her favourite silk/satin nightgown when I would throw it on after her when I was a small girl. I was always so comforted by that, and now she has been gone 13 years, I miss her more than ever and could do with that comfort again 🥹💔

That's so sad, but what a lovely memory Flowers

Oooh! Pet heads🐱as long as they're not damp.
Although to be fair given the amount of time they spend on top of us or the clean washing we probably don't need to buy a special perfume.

Ticktap · 29/04/2023 20:55

Badedas bubble bath. Wish they would do is a perfume.
I remember a spray deodorant in the 80s Norsk I think. Loved it. Like pine, fresh.

Humph - got all excited about a petrichor perfume but LofF say they are not selling in the UK at the moment.
do you have anything from them, are the scents what they claim?

They are, yes. Obviously they're very linear and not terribly long lasting (by definition as they're pretty much "notes" rather than complex mixes- a bit like Jo Malone in that sense) but as cheap as chips so who cares. They're sometimes marketed under the name Demeter.

@Cantsayanything try Bobbi Brown Beach. It's not a suncream and Pina colada beach fragrance. It's wet sand and pebbles. There's also one by Sunspel which is wet moss, I'll try and find the name. 4160 Tuesdays Walk in the Woods might fit the bill, though when I first sniffed that it was slightly too much rotting leaves and dogs who've pissed in a wet wood for me.

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 30/04/2023 09:58

Sunspel Sea Moss.

Flipflops123 · 30/04/2023 10:02

Chocolate

longtompot · 30/04/2023 10:09

Linden flowers smell amazing and I wouldn't want a perfume as such, but a room diffuser would be wonderful.

And Pledge

I have a Prada sample which when I tried it a week or so ago I thought what does this remind me of? It was Pledge! My dh didn't think it smelt of it but it was all I could smell

Something that actually smelled like Sweetpeas when you bury your nose into a giant bunch you've picked for your Grandma to put into a crystal vase on her dressing table.

The day that the cherry blossom opens to call the bees to it.

A freshly opened rose.

Fresh straw and livestock in a clean wooden stable or byre when the morning sun has been shining on the side of the building for 2 hours.

Honeysuckle at night when it carries hundreds of yards.

Wild Marjoram on heathland at noon in summer.

A woodland pond in the distance.

RosaGallica · 30/04/2023 10:19

Fresh cut grass and lime tree blossom. The scent of lilacs would be nice too, they don’t last long enough.

tatteddear · 30/04/2023 10:23

The closest thing to petrichor is Marc Jacobs Rain.

I'd like a very 'green' perfume that smells of cut grass, or the woods after it's rained.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 30/04/2023 10:34

@CindersAgain it was very different to all of the musk ones they have done since. It was an amazing warm smell.
