Any cake makers please for an icing question!

Hi all,
I'm making my son's birthday cake today. I purchased the icing weeks in advance, thought I was being organised and I've just had a huge panic and realised I probably don't have enough.

I purchased 1kg of Sugarpaste baby blue.
The cake will be 8 inch and round. 3 layers. Estimating around 5 inch I'm height.

I'm having a huge panic as I'm super stressed, have lots to do (and a crap partner), alongside a 3 year old. I've looked online and nowhere seems to stock the sugarpaste icing. O can't order online as it won't arrive today.

What do I do? Is it best to just buy a standard supermarket white and mix it with the baby blue sugarpaste? Will it work? It'll hopefully just make the blue a bit lighter which is better than not enough icing! So mad with myself.

1kg should be fine for that size of cake, but if you are worried, then add some supermarket white icing and knead it in, it will be fine. If you don't want to lighten the colour, I agree with a PP that you can place the white under the blue, roll it all out together, and place on the cake with the blue side up.

Don't use cornflour to roll out, it's very drying on the icing, and can also cause the icing to 'blow' once on the cake. Icing sugar will work better.

Tha k you so much for your replies, really hoping it'll be enough.

To clarify its one cake I'm making using 3 8 inch cake tins (for 3 layers).

Just got the first 2 in the oven. Really stressed. I popped out to get a block of icing and caster sugar (someone has used mine yha tinbht for the cake) and

Sorry that sent too early, my phone is being weird and flicking between threads.
So popped out for icing and missed the delivery of my son's birthday present for tomorrow. Really hoping the cake is ok, as it's hit and miss with me.

This time last year I was making my son's cake after zero sleep the night before, as I'd found out my partner and father of my child had cheated multiple times. I did the cake on autopilot but it went well. Prob due to not overthinking.
It's a struggle today and I'm stressing about the party.

I'm making a cake and don't have enough butter - it's so frustrating! Good luck op, you'll be fine x

Thank you for all the advice yesterday. I iced this cake and had about half of the icing left!
I'm no professional but was happy enough with the cake.
