Munich. The first time I went there, I was expecting a dull, boring, provincial industrial city. A sort of German version of Birmingham. I was completely & embarrassingly wrong.
I was very pleasantly surprised by how smart, civilised, affluent, cultured & green the city is and how friendly & welcoming the Bavarian people are. Add in the amazing beer, decent weather and yummy food and München is now one of my favourite cities in Europe. Prost!

Lanzarote - I was so sure I'd hate it that I was searching for next-day flights back before I'd even left Gatwick, but it kinda grows on you

Totally agree! Loved the whole vibe.
The food too - we didn't have a bad meal anywhere.
