Howuch for your gas and electricity now the £66 is over?

thecoperope · 17/04/2023 22:56

£45 for gas even though we turned the central heating off 2 weeks ago
£110 for electricity but we have an electric cooker and hob.

This is getting unsustainable.

MadEyeMoodysEye · 17/04/2023 23:05

£204 per month combined. 4 of us in a 4 bed semi.

Impatientwino · 17/04/2023 23:11

I refuse to use more than £110 a month for both, but I do live alone and I’ve cut washing machine and dishwasher use to the minimum. Heating in an hour a day max.

FfeminyddCymraeg · 17/04/2023 23:13

Mine went down from £300 to £200 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I was dreading opening my bill as assumed it would go up but seemingly not.

Mercury2702 · 17/04/2023 23:15

I’m on top up meters but using £125.40 for both according to my app. Single parent to a 7 year old in a 2 bed terrace.

I am however going to notice it a lot more now that I’m going to have to start topping my electric up again 😩

doyouwanticewiththat · 17/04/2023 23:18

£311 4 bed detached Shock

Youngatheart00 · 17/04/2023 23:20

Just received bill, combined DD going up from £270 to £340 a month!!! For a compact 3 bed terrace. It’s absolutely absurd.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 17/04/2023 23:34

Mines gone up from £127 combined to £150, and this month my account has gone slightly into debit without the £66 going in, so I'm hoping the next few months start building some credit up again ahead of winter.

thecoperope · 17/04/2023 23:36

oh it seems I've gotten off lightly compared so £300! This is so much to us, we turned the heating off and sat in the cold for the last 2 weeks to still pay £45? And we have it on sparingly, maybe an hour a day 30 mins morning and 30 minutes evening

I'll he very interested in what people are paying next month

80sMum · 17/04/2023 23:39

We've cut our usage to the bone, but the latest bill is still well over £100. £45 for gas and £76 for electricity.

whatcurtains · 17/04/2023 23:42

£92 Electric

£171 Gas

We never put the heating on longer than 1hr once/twice a week either. It's only used to heat the water.

Georgian town house.

I dread submitting the meter readings each month.

Singleandproud · 17/04/2023 23:46

£90 electricity but we use an electric shower and dishwasher everyday.
£12 gas as the heating is off so it's just standing charge and hand washing things too large for the dishwasher.

Maple2023 · 17/04/2023 23:59

Too much! Trying to cut it further if I can (live alone, min wage)

HeidiWhole · 18/04/2023 00:54

Just under £400 combined.
Depressing - I thought we were doing ok at limiting usage (within reason) but obviously not.

Don't forget the standing charge and hot water unless it is electrically heated, that will take a lot of £45.

But you can't take much worthwhile information from people's answers. Some will be quoting a fixed monthly DD that may or may not reflect their usage. Others the actual monthly bill but even those will have different sized homes with different types of heating and insulation, different occupancy and family sizes etc.

You're trying to draw conclusions from a series of random numbers.

Floofydawg · 18/04/2023 06:12

Was just billed £108 for both but I'm on Octopus tracker tarrif which works out cheaper. 4 bed 1930s house, we have cut usage down but not sitting and freezing.

Aposterhasnoname · 18/04/2023 06:15

Mine only went up a tenner, and we got £500 back as we had that much credit. Seems we’ve been rather successful at cutting our usage back.

Pretty much the same here. 4 bedroom semi detached 1930s house. The heating has gone on for one hour in the evenings.

But yes - dread submitting the meter readings...

leafygarden · 18/04/2023 06:25

@Floofydawg !!! Tell me your secrets - please

I can't imagine having a bill that low!! We're with Octopus too

Motheranddaughter · 18/04/2023 06:27

£385 a month

Can I ask why you're interested in what other people spend? I've seen a lot of threads on similar lines and just can't work out why.

What am I missing, why would I care, it has no relevance to me, no effect on my bills. Why do so many posters start threads asking the same question?Confused

whirlyhead · 18/04/2023 06:30

My last bill was £310 for the month but I haven’t had the heating on this month as the weather is ok. My partner however works from home with the damn heater on all day!

i am currently still £700 in credit and pay £231 a month DD. 3 bed very well insulated terrace with 2 adults.

C1N1C · 18/04/2023 06:32

On the plus side, it's getting warmer outside :)

sanityisamyth · 18/04/2023 06:34

Mine should be the same as I have never put the heating on. Approximately £100 for mid floor flat. No gas.
