as in no light whatsoever

Yes, can't bear any light at all.

RuthTopp · 17/04/2023 22:53

No lights on in the house but if I were to look towards the window I can see dim light from a street light further down my road or moonlight on a full moon.
I guess if we got better curtains it could be pitch dark.

BringtheJury · 17/04/2023 22:54

No, I sleep with my curtains open.

CharlotteDoyle · 17/04/2023 22:55

Yes, lights off and windows covered with black out curtains. Nice and cosy

EvenHeathens · 17/04/2023 22:57

Nope, light on in downstairs hall so the creepy men cant get upstairs without me seeing them first

CC4712 · 17/04/2023 22:58

No lights on, black out curtains and I wear an eye mask.

Wetnwindy · 17/04/2023 22:58

Bathroom light on all night and have street lamp that is outside bedroom window . Bedroom dark enough though with blinds closed . Gets too light though in the summer.

DramaAlpaca · 17/04/2023 22:58

Yes

miniegg3 · 17/04/2023 22:59

The TV is on 😬

Pootle40 · 17/04/2023 22:59

100%. I wouldn't sleep otherwise!

OhSmitty · 17/04/2023 22:59

I like blackout. We do have a digtal clock which is very dim, the only light in the room. We also need blackout for DH who is a night worker and sleeps in the day.

Onefootinthegroove · 17/04/2023 23:00

No light at all, no street lights, metal blackout blinds ( not in the UK)

Crinkle77 · 17/04/2023 23:01

I have a blind and 2 sets of lined curtains. To be fair it is a bay window so the other set comes across the bay to keep the cold out of the rest of the room in Winter. I'm a light sleeper so need complete darkness otherwise I wake at 4am in summer and can't get back to sleep. Ironically I was frightened of the dark when I was a kid.

NotHooray · 17/04/2023 23:04

No lights on at all, not blackout curtains though so dim light from street lights.
It's taken me a long time to get to this point..my husband is often away and for years I could hardly sleep whilst he was away, telly on, bedside lamps on etc which made for terrible light nights sleeps. Since I have ensured lights are off and electronics are off I have slept so much better and it has become the norm, so much so that I don't really think about it.

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/04/2023 23:05

Not, couple of tech lights on.

Tinkerbyebye · 17/04/2023 23:06

Not any more. I started to get nightmares so have a night light in the hall

BotherThat · 17/04/2023 23:06

Very lazily haven’t yet moved almost two year old in to her own room, so she has a star projector night light that’s on in my bedroom. Tbh I don’t think she cares about it one way or the other, but I quite like it 😁

StepIntoMyOffice · 17/04/2023 23:07

No. Hall light on, bedroom door open.

SockQueen · 17/04/2023 23:07

I have all the lights off and a darkish curtain but I don't need total darkness. DH is much more particular.

Wedoronron · 17/04/2023 23:07

Blackout blinds, thick curtains, mask just in case. Also ear plugs. Lifelong insomniac. Drives DH insane as I have to move all the curtains so no light can get in.

DahliaMacNamara · 17/04/2023 23:08

I have blackout curtains to stop early morning light waking me in the summer, but I can't bear to be in total darkness. I need to know I haven't suddenly gone blind. A digital clock display will do the trick. I also need to know what time it is.

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 17/04/2023 23:08

I need pitch black and silence. We have blackout curtains and nothing electrical in the room (apart from DH’s alarm which isn’t in my view).

WandaWonder · 17/04/2023 23:08

No house lights but sure street lights, moon is through the curtains

myveryownelectrickitten · 17/04/2023 23:08

I always have until recently - now I have to leave the door open a little so our new cat can get in and out (she wants to sleep ok my bed and I’ve given in!) Annoyingly, that means I get some light from streetlights coming in the door now.

I’m sure I’ve read that it’s better for you to sleep in the dark - it helps regulate your metabolism much better.

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 17/04/2023 23:09

No. I fall asleep with the tv on (friends and how I met your mother on rotation)

It turns off after a few hours as it's on a timer, and if I wake in the night I'll put it back on and fall back to sleep.
