No, I sleep with my curtains open.

Love to sleep with curtains and window open. Falling asleep watching the moon, waking up the dawn.

But I can sleep through any light and most noises, so that wouldn't stop me from conking out and sleeping until midday should the need and opportunity arise.

I used to fall asleep reading, with lamp / light on quite often, but I try to avoid that since reading it messes with your blood sugar. So pitch dark / natural light are my preferences. But I do have a great talent for sleeping Smile

No. I keep the landing light on dim. I can't sleep in the absolute dark.

Willmafrockfit · 18/04/2023 07:22

yes,
really thick curtains.
love it

doadeer · 18/04/2023 07:22

I have street lights outside my window so no, I can still see objects in my room it's not pitch black. I am never in the pitch black really

flatpack1 · 18/04/2023 07:23

No. Lights on, tv on, others in house awake all night. I think it is just what you are used to. I wouldnt like dark or silence

Pascha · 18/04/2023 07:29

There's a nightlight in the hall. My bedroom is dark with the curtains cracked open. The children both have nightlights.

Many years ago when I still lived at home we had a completely dark house, one night my dad got up to use the loo but sleepily turned too soon into the room and walked headlong down the stairs instead. He was OK but ever since then they have the bathroom light on with the door cracked open all night.

Tumbleweed101 · 18/04/2023 07:44

Mostly dark, black out curtains but moon light amd dawn light sneaks around the edges but it doesn't bother me.

I'm more light tolerant than I am noise tolerate for sleeping.

MintJulia · 18/04/2023 07:46

Yes. There are no street lights where I live and blinds deal with moonlight.

But I can go to sleep anywhere. It doesn't worry me.

WouldJudasLeaveIt · 18/04/2023 07:48

I’d leave the landing light on but my 18 year old hates the light coming under her door so it’s pitch blackness here.

BiddyPop · 18/04/2023 07:48

All lights off, blackout curtains - but there is some seepage of streetlights around edges of curtains.

I often end up moving middle of the night to front room and usually cannot be arsed putting the blinds down there so have streetlight and then early morning sun (faces east). But if I am tired, I will go back asleep there.

Door100 · 18/04/2023 08:19

I leave a dim lamp on. It's only incase dc come into my room at night. If it was pitch black, they would put the main bedroom light on.

miniegg3 · 18/04/2023 06:37

Until it turns itself off.. then if I wake up I'll put it back on. It started when my 5 year old was born, I had such bad insomnia and any tiny noise would wake me up, the constant low TV sound drowned it out

Have you tried a sound machine?

YellowGreenBlue · 18/04/2023 09:00

Lights off, curtains drawn and no street lamps nearby, but the curtains aren't blackout so in the summer it's light in the morning.

MyMachineAndMe · 18/04/2023 09:01

As much as possible, yes. We have blackout blinds and curtains and close the bedroom door to block out the landing light. I also wear a sleeping mask.

DedicatedFollowerOfFashion84 · 18/04/2023 09:02

Yep, and I wear an eye mask. I can sleep in anything other than pitch black and total silence. My mum was pretty hardcore about that when I was a baby so I’m assuming that’s why.

evtheria · 18/04/2023 09:02

No, can't sleep in pitch black (or total silence). Just need a little bit of light seeping in through curtains, and general background noise (like an air conditioner etc.)

evilharpy · 18/04/2023 09:04

We have a normal window and a velux. We have blackout curtains on the normal window. Velux blind stays open in winter and it's nearly pitch black, but we'll start closing it soon as it gets bright too early.

I can sleep with a little bit of light but not much (prefer total darkness though). Husband needs it to be fully dark.

RoseBucket · 18/04/2023 09:08

I never shut my blinds I can’t sleep in darkness, it’s a pain in hotels sometimes so I have to either have the curtains open or a light on. I keep meaning to buy a plug in nightlight so this has reminded me.

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 18/04/2023 09:12

Yes, with blackout blinds and an eye mask. I can't sleep with any light at all

user1492757084 · 18/04/2023 09:16

No, I see the stars, with curtains open.

fancyfrogs · 18/04/2023 09:30

Yes usually , though baby in our room and have sound activated red light on for when he wakes. I love complete darkness though.
I could never sleep with the curtains/blinds open, my bedroom window isn't really overlooked but I'd still feel lack of privacy I think. Those that do, doesn't the sun wake you very early in summer months?

OldTinHat · 18/04/2023 09:32

Yes. And double up with an eye mask.
