No I have a night light because I'm a wimp Grin

ExtremelyDetermined · 17/04/2023 23:10

Definitely not, we have thin white curtains, streetlights outside, a glowing display on a radio alarm and a charger. I hate staying in places with blackout curtains, I like waking to natural light.

fussychica · 17/04/2023 23:11

Yes and I wear a silk eye mask if there's any light when I'm on holiday or staying with family.

thaegumathteth · 17/04/2023 23:11

No I have the light in the hall on and the bedroom door open. I can't sleep in pitch black.

somewhereovertherain · 17/04/2023 23:11

Blackout blinds and no street lights as in the country it’s very dark in here.

AdoraBell · 17/04/2023 23:12

Yes, blackout blind.

Heartofglass12345 · 17/04/2023 23:12

@DrMeredithGrey2023 I used to do this when I lived alone, but it was friends and sex and the city on rotation Grin
sometimes I watch friends with the subtitles on on my phone now as well, because I have to sleep with a CPAP machine on and some nights it's really distracting!

cocksstrideintheevening · 17/04/2023 23:13

Yep full black outson the velux windows. I sleep so much better.

Maple2023 · 17/04/2023 23:14

Yep, no noise or light
Even the stand by light on something irritates me

Summerfun54321 · 17/04/2023 23:19

Maybe I have very effective eyelids. I could sleep with the light fully on, I just close my eyes.

TheChosenTwo · 17/04/2023 23:20

I prefer pitch black, dh finds it a bit disorientating waking up in the morning to pitch darkness so he cracks the top part of one of the shutters open. I find this irritating but we are at the back of the house and so there are no lights etc out there. But when it’s a clear night the moon is very bright and it annoys me 😂 he’s going away for a long weekend this weekend and I can’t wait, 4 whole nights of total blissful darkness coming up!! Sometimes he falls asleep downstairs and it’s heavenly turning off the telly to sleep in a totally dark room.
Phones charging have to be face down so they dont randomly flash up with notifications and I just unplug anything flashing obnoxiously (like my electric cigarette if it’s charging!).

SpacePotato · 17/04/2023 23:21

Pitch black and silent would be my ideal.
No TV in bedroom.

Have blackout curtains, but next door has a motion sensor security light that goes on and off all night which annoys me.

BringtheJury · 17/04/2023 22:54

No, I sleep with my curtains open.

This has absolute chaotic energy 😂

AdoraBell · 17/04/2023 23:23

Oh yes, silence would help me to sleep. A few nights ago I could hear my dog breathing🤦‍♀️

Louise295 · 17/04/2023 23:23

We sleep with the landing light or bathroom light on for the kids. We've tried nightlights but they are still scared if they wake or need the toilet.

rubadubdubascrubinahottub · 17/04/2023 23:26

Not a glimmer of light or else I can’t sleep.

Twokidsanddone · 17/04/2023 23:29

I sleep with the TV on an the volume low. Can't sleep a wink if it's dark and silent

Romeiswheretheheartis · 17/04/2023 23:30

No, I panic if I'm in a pitch dark room. If I ever stay in a hotel with blackout curtains I have to either leave them partly open or leave the light on in the en suite 😊

DoesItHaveKosovo · 17/04/2023 23:30

I can’t imagine sleeping with the TV on, wow.

I like darkness with no artificial light but I do like moonlight! Can tolerate a dimly lit clock and don’t mind sleeping in DS’s room with the Groclock.

thriftyhen · 17/04/2023 23:33

At night, no lights on in the house. No street lights. No lights from any other houses. We live in a dark sky area. It's beautiful!

BringtheJury · 17/04/2023 23:34

Trollsinmyeggbox · 17/04/2023 23:21

This has absolute chaotic energy 😂

What do you mean?

Utterlypeanuterly · 17/04/2023 23:35

I have a dim nightlight. I am quite claustrophobic and being in pitch dark triggers the same feelings.

eldersis · 17/04/2023 23:35

Black out curtains that I have drawing pinned down the sides to stop daylight peeking in. No alarm clock but I play audio books on my laptop (with the lid closed) through the night. I have even put plack tape over the laptop battery lights. If the audio stops it wakes me up immediately.

Notsurenotquiteright · 17/04/2023 23:36

Yes can’t see my hand in front of my face- and ear plugs too.
I struggle to settle my Brain if I can see shapes or scary things in the shadows.
same for hearing the house settle.
i have a dog who sleeps at the foot of the bed that would alert me to anything.
and my partner in the bed without earplugs and our 18 month daughter.
she is close enough for me to hear her wake through the ear plugs.
also drowns out the dog and partners snoring choir

Total blackness, triple layer curtains and then blackout lining, interestingly ten years ago when I had a vicious primary cancer and feared I would die and leave my fourteen year old behind, I developed a fear of the dark and had to buy a small night light, as soon as I got the all clear, it went to the charity shop.

No idea to this day.
