80’s and 90’s film recommendations

I turned 50 a month ago and have decided to relive my youth by watching all the old films that I once loved (and those I haven’t yet seen).
I am thinking easy watching/cheesy/fun and uplifting films like Ferris Bueller’s day off, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Pretty Woman etc.
If you have any recommendations of films you loved back then and probably ones that I have long forgotten, I will happily track down and watch over the next year.

One of favourite 90s films is the under- appreciated Martha Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence. It's a Film4 film and it's a nice little British romcom which is sweet without being too saccharine.

Joseph Fiennes stars as Londoner Laurence (and is at his cute 90's best here- those eyes!) who's a complicated guy looking for love. Opposite him is Monica Potter as quirky but sad Martha, an American who's come to London to find adventure. Rufus Sewell and Tom Hollander give excellent performances as Laurence's feckless friends and Ray Winstone has a very funny little role.

Another film in the same vein is . Ben Chaplin falls for a vet with a radio show about animals who he thinks is Uma Thurman, but is actually Janeane Garofallo. This mix up causes much hilarity and some heartbreak. It was my first introduction to the concept of phone sex as a young teen- my mind was blown! 😂

One of my favourite films from that era and a film that nobody can ever remember seeing in my circle of friends. Some brilliant stars in it.
