Depends on your appetite! In my house it’s a meal.

NannyR · 14/04/2023 10:01

A light meal - equivalent to a sandwich, egg on toast etc.

Findyourneutralspace · 14/04/2023 10:02

A meal, but not a main meal. Usually lunch.

Comefromaway · 14/04/2023 10:02

I've literally just had beans on toast for breakfast!

It is a meal. Breakfast or lunch though, not the main meal of the day.

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 14/04/2023 10:02

It's lunch, or a light tea if a big meal was eaten at lunchtime.

Crunchymum · 14/04/2023 10:03

A meal but a daytime meal (so breakfast or lunch). It wouldn't be a dinner for me.

It's a snack if other meal/s have been very small.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 14/04/2023 10:03

Meal

dietcokelime · 14/04/2023 10:04

A meal! It's carbs, protein and potentially fats if you've got butter in - definitely a meal! A snack to me is one thing, like a piece of fruit or a biscuit. Not something you need to do multiple bits too, like toast bread / heat up beans etc, that puts it into meal territory!

FrenchandSaunders · 14/04/2023 10:06

A light meal, brekkie or lunch, not for dinner unless you've had a big lunch.

WimpoleHat · 14/04/2023 10:09

A meal - but probably not a main meal for most adults. A more substantial lunch than a sandwich.

Crabwoman · 14/04/2023 10:12

A light meal. Approx 350-500 calories depending on the bread and quantities of butter/beans, so definitely not a snack.

A snack is a piece of fruit, a slice of toast, biscuit bar of chocolate

Jellytotsburnmytongue · 14/04/2023 10:13

I'd say a meal, but when I picked my son up from after school club a few weeks ago the children were eating it as a snack. So maybe how many beans and how much toast you have changes it from a snack to a meal.

Xjshdvf · 14/04/2023 10:13

a meal

LittleFreakJezebel · 14/04/2023 10:14

A meal but only for breakfast or lunch, or tea if a large meal has been eaten earlier in the day (big lunch out, afternoon tea, Sunday lunch etc)

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 14/04/2023 10:15

Surely it depends how much you have?

Four slices of toast and a shoe tin = a meal
one slice and a spoonful = a snack

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 14/04/2023 10:15
  • a whole tin
LittleFreakJezebel · 14/04/2023 10:16

I suppose it does depends on quantities though, I would do 2 slices toast, half a tin of beans and 10g butter and that is around 450 calories so too much for a snack really. Even more if you add cheese on top!

123rd · 14/04/2023 10:16

I say lunch. If it was served as my hot main meal I'd be disappointed

maddy68 · 14/04/2023 10:17

Both I think. But I would have it as a meal for lunch

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 14/04/2023 10:17

Meal, 100%

heldinadream · 14/04/2023 10:18

Add a fried egg and some fried onions - lush meal.

Even a sausage or some bacon - ok I've changed the goalposts now...

Monkeybutt1 · 14/04/2023 10:18

With a couple of poached eggs on top its a meal, we have it for tea quite often.

Comefromaway · 14/04/2023 10:19

I have two rounds of bread and about a third of a large tin of beans for breakfast or lunch. If I have skipped breakfast I might have three rounds as a brunch. The toast is lightly buttered. (I used to use loads of butter but am trying to cut down.

Food of the gods.

SnarkyBag · 14/04/2023 10:20

Two slices of toast and a whole tin = meal
One slice of toast and half a tin = snack

Comefromaway · 14/04/2023 10:20

Oh yes, the addition of an egg makes it even better.
