We used to drive around a hairpin bend in the middle of some woodlands, past the burnt out remains of a cottage in the middle of nowhere as part of the route to my boarding school.

I always thought I'd buy it when I grew up, although as all that was left was 2 partial walls, one of them the chimney wall I don't know how I thought I was going to live in it.
It had been like that for long enough there was a towering tree growing in what would have been a room.

If you go there now, you have to know there used to be a building there to find it at all.

Why oh why did none of us get Mr Frosty?

I guess our parents realised trying to crush blocks of ice with a flimsy bit of plastic was an impossible task that could only lead to tantrums and major family fallings out! I try to console myself with the fact that apparently it was a bit shit.

Oh dear, I now have a thatched cottage, a peach corner bathroom suite full of Victoria Plum bath salts, a country-style 80s kitchen, and wardrobes that have glass doors with gingham pleated fabric bunched behind them. And a four-poster bed.

Outside is a garden with a swimming pool, a massive treehouse and a selection of cavalier King Charles spaniels, an enormous guinea-pig run and one of those aqua slides TP toys used to sell.

I also now own a carriage clock with those four rotating balls in every room, a selection of 1980s executive toys (including a Newton’s Cradle and one of those pin things you put your face into), a giant Teddy Ruxpin, the entire Kay’s catalogue circa 1987 and a hi-fi system with tape-to-take capability. (The future!)

On every windowsill are Lilliput Lane cottages.

You’d better budge over, we’re sharing! (Apart from the Guinea pigs and spaniels.) I hope you like Eternal Beau crockery.

However, my bedroom will have those wardrobes with an oval picture of a lady on them and my bathroom will have a Jacuzzi.

If we run out of the mini chocolate bars in the 2p vending machine you will be able to find me in the library, with Mr Frosty and I will speak into our wall mounted intercom to order some more.
