So I’m 18, my bf is 17. We’ve been together 3 months, friends for a long time before that. A few weeks ago the condom split, now I’m a week late on my period. I should’ve got the pill but I had one a few weeks before and was told I shouldn’t have it too often so I went to the toilet after hoping it would come out. I was planning on getting the non hormonal coil soon. I’m always due between the 27th-3rd. Checked last month and it came on the 3rd, it’s now the 10th and still no signs. Yesterday my right boob kept hurting and they look a bit bigger but I might be imagining it, I’m getting weird random twinges in my stomach, really vivid dreams, I'm so tired I’m struggling to wake up in the morning after even 10 hours sleep, generally just feel tired like I don’t want to go out and do anything, I’ve been really sensitive, I never cry but I keep feeling teary over small things, and I’m gagging when I use my vape sometimes which never happens, I also feel rly faint every time I wake up. I did a test yesterday and there’s a faint line but I’m not sure if it’s just an evaporation line? I live in a supported accommodation so my situation isn’t great and I’m just really stressed because my period is never this late. I’m going to get more tests tomorrow. :(

Please also seek long term contraception options at the GP. The morning after pill is not supposedly to be used on a regular basis.
Good luck.

The op will be at the GP's surgery now and will hopefully come back here and tell us the result. I think she is most likely not to be pregnant but if I was superstitious I would say, "Fingers crossed" and do hope she is reassured.

Reliable contraception is the next step. In fairness she and boyfriend did use contraception, it just went wrong.

Good luck op

Hi OP just so you know I was almost 3 weeks late for my period last month and I’m usually regular as clock work.

The only thing I can put it down to is that I had covid but I don’t know why that would affect my periods.

ThreeLocusts · 12/04/2023 16:40

Hi OP, just to say don't worry about having had these symptoms that made you think that you may be pregnant. As PPs said, MAP can wreak havoc on cycle, worry can, thrush and other things more.

I'd say allow yourself to feel relieved and reexamine your contraception options. All the best Flowers

Sprogonthetyne · 12/04/2023 17:26

I've had 3 'scares' that turned out not to be pregnancy, and each time I convinced myself I had other symptoms, right until my period turned up. It's probably just because your worried, so every bit of indigestion, tiredness or twinges that you'd normally just forget about, your now noticing and overthinking.

Covid does affect periods, ShowUs, has often happened. I hope you are well recovered now.

mindutopia · 12/04/2023 18:10

Honestly, these things happen. The symptoms you describe weren’t really the symptoms I had in very early pregnancy, but they could just be an indication that something is a bit off in your cycle. I’ve had the same in the past with a late period and there was nothing ‘wrong’ and nothing I needed the GP. Just one of those things. All went back to normal a few days later when my period came. Hope you get the answer you’re wanting, but I wouldn’t worry too much about anything being wrong. You’re young and otherwise likely to be healthy. Just happens sometimes!

Beezknees · 12/04/2023 18:11

Hi OP. I hope you're OK. If it turns out you are pregnant, feel free to come back to the thread for advice. I had a baby when I was 18 so I understand your situation.

Hey sorry I’ve been out for a few days, doctors still haven’t called me which is a bit worrying BUT I got my period that night!! Turns out it’s decided to sync with one of my friends, we used to be synced and then we fell out for a bit, and now since we’ve been hanging out again it’s decided to sync with hers. Really weird but at least I’ve got my answer now!

You have
Now get some proper contraception sorted out so you are more in control

LBFseBrom · 15/04/2023 11:01

I think it's more likely due to you having taken emergency contraception recently, but in any case, I'm very glad to hear that.

I don't think you need to consult the doctor about your late period, that's normal. But you DO need to get some reliable long term contraception so you don't have to go through this again.

Good luck with it all 😊
