My DH hates having the windows open... Ever. I open them as the house needs fresh air otherwise it feels musty. How often do you open your windows?

Bedrooms are open all day all year round. Bathroom open all day but closed usually at night.

Downstairs open regularly

DoesItHaveKosovo · 09/04/2023 22:12

Every day for as long as possible.

CommanderSeven · 09/04/2023 22:14

Every day, especially in winter and summer. I like all windows open for a minimum of 20 minutes.

Only strong wind (pictures have been blown off walls) and rain deter me. Strong wind blows the rain inside - we live somewhere really windy!

If we're out I'll leave them 'open locked'

OhMyCherriePie · 09/04/2023 22:17

Daily

Northernsouloldies · 09/04/2023 22:18

Nother one for everyday, at least a couple of hours.

FredaFox · 09/04/2023 22:18

This drives me mad, my mum is a window closed, she's housebound and feels the cold so I understand but god her house gets stuffy
I crack windows when there in rooms she's not in to get some fresh air in but I'm a windows open person

Comedycook · 09/04/2023 22:19

I'm exactly the same as you op. I like them open every day. Rooms need airing. DH just moans that he's cold.

sanityisamyth · 09/04/2023 22:20

As often as possible. My bedroom and kitchen windows are open all the time.

Meandfour · 09/04/2023 22:22

Never, ever fully shut. They’re on the catch and then opened every morning.

starrynight19 · 09/04/2023 22:22

My bathroom windows are pretty much open all the time. I try to open bedroom windows for a period every day. Maybe ten minutes or so in the winter but open most of the day from now.
Open the patio doors every day , left open all day today.
I feel it smells when there’s no fresh air.

BasicDad · 09/04/2023 22:22

Open often. I don't like them being left open unnecessarily. For us that's more than an hour. If we had more people or dogs, probably more. We open for cooking, especially on the hob.

We also sleep with the windows cracked open an inch or two, unless it's bitterly cold out.

3luckystars · 09/04/2023 22:23

Every single day. I close them in the evening time.

childfreelifeloveit32 · 09/04/2023 22:24

My windows are open 24/7 i pull them in when it gets chilly thats it .
I dont understand it when some never opens the windows i cant sleep if my bedroom window is closed nore can i sleep with curtains closed im a top floor flat thank god.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 09/04/2023 22:25

I open the windows whenever it is warm enough outside, if something smells or a room is steamy, or when I do a deep clean about once a week. So average week in the winter, windows open a few times a week. In the summer, every day. At the moment, it is starting to average 2 or 3 times a week on sunny days.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 09/04/2023 22:26

Every day.

A house needs to breathe.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 09/04/2023 22:26

We never have all the windows completely shut.

Most of the time all of the upstairs windows are open a crack but locked and the downstairs ones closed but with open trickle vents.

In very cold windy weather we might close some of the windows but always have a bedroom one open when we are asleep.

I would hate to have all the windows shut, so horribly stuffy.

Throughalookingglass · 09/04/2023 22:26

Rarely due to living in a house that is very hard to heat up and feels cold all the time.

After discovering some mould on the ceiling of my bedroom, I have started to open some of them for a few minutes every day. The problem is that it isn't a habit yet so I don't always remember to open them.

ThisIsNotThePostYourLookingFor · 09/04/2023 22:27

At some point everyday although my bedroom window is open every single night even when it’s snowing or freezing.

DragonflyLady · 09/04/2023 22:29

Every day. I sleep better if the window’s slightly open too. The house gets an airing every morning.

MyLoveIsYourLove0xO · 09/04/2023 22:30

Every single day

AlltheFs · 09/04/2023 22:30

As often as possible, daily Spring-Autumn. Winter it depends, we live in an old cottage and it’s expensive to heat, so not daily. Bedrooms are cold with the windows closed!

Bathroom window gets opened after showers but as it’s downstairs can’t be left open if we aren’t there.

Backdoor is a stable door and the top is
open frequently and the kitchen windows opened when cooking.

fairtrauchled · 09/04/2023 22:30

Bedroom and bathroom windows are opened every day for at least an hour.

cocksstrideintheevening · 09/04/2023 22:32

Every day. Trickle vents in our bedroom velux open all the time

Expo23 · 09/04/2023 22:33

Bathroom window wide open for an hour or two each morning to get all steam and damp out. Bedroom windows permanently on the night latch. Kitchen windows opened wide to cook then on the night latch. This post has reminded me to close them as I forgot to earlier them when I went out, noticed when I got back, still didn't do it and now I'm in bed 😑

Mindovermatter247 · 09/04/2023 22:33

My windows stay open all year long, sometimes during the winter, I’ll close them in the day but they get opened in the evening when going to bed. I can’t sleep with them closed.
