What juice do you give to your kids?

How often? Trying to find something that won't rot their teeth. I had a lot of orange juice as a child and it really affected my teeth. Also used to give eldest a lot of own brand but realised with the artificial sugars she kept falling poorly. Same with me. I get a sore throat instantly. I get the apple and mango one from Asda but just wondering what to give to my kids.

We've never drunk juice as a family and so neither has DD (aged 9). It's not just about rotting the teeth. Surely it's a huge amount of sugar to allow into your body?

I can't remember the RDA of sugar per day but I do remember being shocked at how much was in a glass of orange juice and being glad I never got into the habit.

I've never bought it

I pretty much let mine choose what they would like to drink.
We have fresh orange juice in the house, squash which they can have with tap or sparkling water, milk, tea (red bush for the younger ones) and water. They quite often ask me to make them milkshakes with strawberries and bananas.
The two younger ones mostly drink water by choice. The older one has never really liked water so drinks more squash. None have ever had a filling so I am not worrying!

Isn't it the sipping that's the problem for their teeth? Even if watered down, if they are continuously sipping from a pop top bottle while playing, that's different to a 150ml glass of orange juice occasionally with a meal at a table.

When DS was at nursery and primary school, only water was allowed to sip on, and milk at the table at nursery.

I give the children a 200ml carton of 100% not from concentrate apple juice every morning, it counts towards their five a day and makes sure they have a drink before school.

Cloudy apple juice at breakfast to help with my little one's constipation and to boost calories (but it goes nowhere near their teeth!).

I follow Tim Spector on IG and would recommend.

He thinks orange juice should come with a warning due to the impact it has on blood sugar levels and long term health.

Juice is essentially a glass of sugar. Eat fruit in its natural form.

Water every day, juice on special occasions.

When I first had DC, the dentist told me that he could tell the second children opened their mouths which ones had juice/soda. That really stuck with me!

Fresh orange, but only once a day in the morning. Water the rest of the day, and a hot chocolate or lemonade if we’re out, as a treat, occasionally
