Who are good male role models?

Just seen discussion about this on Twitter. We do talk a lot about the bad ones, but what public figures should our boys look up to?

Dwayne Johnson always seems pretty good to me - he seems like a really caring dad, but he's still 'strong' if that's something a boy finds important and he doesn't take himself too seriously.

NB, I think boys should be able to look up to women too of course. That's why I thought it was good to have a female Doctor in Doctor Who. I didn't think Whittaker was that great but the fact is DS loves Doctor Who and really liked her in it so I think it's a good thing he has a female hero figure out of that.

David Bowie?

Oh yes of course!

Love it when most of us say Marcus Rashford and a poster pretends he's not nice as 'they know him in RL!' Na you really don't do you

I was actually thinking about this just now for my youngest DS ( eldest is just completely football obsessed). Youngest is into drama and dance and acting. He loves jewellery and more flamboyant ( say flowery) and colourful clothing. He was asking me about men who dress like that because he’s becoming aware most of the other boys at school don’t ( and he will get teased).

Have to say I struggled a bit! If anyone has any suggestions very grateful. I’m thinking maybe actors 🤔

I can't think of a footballer, but for sportsmen Lewis Hamilton. He is very into fashion, and has a quite eclectic look.

Good one. Except I didn’t say “he isn’t nice because I know him” what I said was that the fact you’re all considering him a role model for your sons shows you don’t know him.

Barack Obama, Marcus Rashford, Keanu Reeves, Dave Grohl, John Krasinski, Mark Ruffalo.

DS 13 told me this the other day. He cited Barack Obama, Marcus Rashford, Andy Murray and David Attenborough.

Tim Peake, Sir David Attenborough, Gareth Thomas.

Tim Peake is such a boring, boring person

Another vote for Chris Packham, what a dude!
Graham Linehan is amazing in his fight for women's rights, we owe him so much.
Daley Thompson for standing up for women's sports.
As for Tom Daley, he is dealing in bloody slavery, buying a child! Depriving the child of it's mother, how cruel can you get. It's disgusting.

Good god no.

Sorry Bowie was in response to the poster asking for suggestions of men who wear more gender fluid clothes/jewellery/makeup etc.
