Any other suggestions welcome!

A simple cheese and marmalade sandwich.
Or any jam, if you have no marmalade, you heathens.

VickerishAllsort · 03/04/2023 21:06

A nice mature, crunchy Cheddar in a sandwich with strawberry jam.

Bitter orange marmalade on kippers. Does anyone still actually eat kippers??

VioletViolets · 03/04/2023 21:09

Hard salty cheese with jam, especially black cherry or bilberry.

Plain chocolate digestive biscuits with blue cheese.

Feta cheese cubed and drizzled with honey. (Dark Greek honey is best for this)

Cream cheese with fruit compote, especially apricot.

Ooh hovis and blue cheese just got a face lift.

In Beijing the most common way to eat roast duck is to first have it with the hoisin, cucumber, spring onion and pancake like everyone knows here but also to have the most greasy bits of duck (usually the skin) eaten without the pancake and just dipped in sugar 😋

Also I China and Japan in some families people put a sprinkle of salt on watermelon as it is supposed to enhance the sweetness with a little savoury

AdaColeman · 03/04/2023 21:49

@Crikeyalmightey You can never have too much cheese! Smile

I mix cubes of fudge and small chunks of plain chocolate in with my salted roasted nuts, lovely with a glass of Sherry.

JaneJeffer · 03/04/2023 21:50

Celery and peanut butter

Mine vary from the socially acceptable to the only eat when no one is looking.

A variety of the socially acceptable ones:

Camembert baked with honey, rosemary, garlic and hazelnuts.

Goats cheese drizzles with honey.

Toast, topped with prosciutto, apricot jam and balsamic vinegar.

Deep fried aubergine and honey (in Spain)

Dates, stuffed with chorizo, wrapped in bacon and baked.

Meatballs, with a sauce which includes a good whack of redcurrant jelly.

And then my one I wouldn't mention is chocolate buttons and ready salted crisps, or pringles. but any chocolate will do in a pinch. I assumed it was only me who did this, so fascinated to see various others saying the same.

Salted chips dipped in thick vanilla milkshake.
Feta and watermelon.

Northernsouloldies · 03/04/2023 22:58

Vanilla ice cream with salt n vinegar or plain crisps. Use the crisps to scoop up bits of ice cream. 😁

AndiOliversFan · 03/04/2023 22:59

DS dipped a chocolate digestive in his hummus today. He said it was nice. He is 6 though.

Digestive biscuits with strong cheddar 😋 🤤

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/04/2023 23:04

Honey and Marmite on toast

DS always has a Nutella and bacon croissant at a Premier Inn breakfast. He calls it "a Beverley", after the town he invented it in.

RuthTopp · 03/04/2023 23:06
