I hope Thomas Cashman gets a full life sentence.
This vile creature who murdered an innocent child and whos drug dealing has ruined so many lives has not even the balls to face court ,Olivia’s family or the judge !
What a cowardly waste of oxygen!

I remember Dryden and his bungalow in a hole and his arsenal of guns and bombs. The shooting of the planning officer was shown on the news - 1986? 87?

Spanglemum · 04/04/2023 11:18

I think one of the murderers of Logan Mwangi also refused to attend sentencing.

So contemptuous of authority. I hope he gets absolutely everything he deserves in jail. I am so angry about this.

I can't get worked up about 2 petty drug dealers trying to kill each other. What I do have a problem with is women and girls getting caught in the crossfire.

Good on the CPS singing we are the champions for putting this absolute waste of space behind bars; they are fucking heroic.

So contemptuous of authority he can't even be bothered to show up to face the music.

Us normal people need to stand up to these excuses for human beings.

#VAWG must STOP.

Agree completely.

I work in the justice system, refusal to appear is common. His behaviour is pretty standard to be honest. By physically dragging him there it would take up to ten police/prison officers and then what, he causes merry hell in the dock and the sentence can't be handed down because no one can hear the judge. He doesn't deserve the spectacle. We know who he is, what he's done. His sentence will still be served.

SkiingIsHeaven · 04/04/2023 16:25

I think that they should play the victim impact statement and what the judge said into his cell, so he has no choice but to hear it.

If he kicks off, keep playing it until he has shut up and listened.

Repugnant little coward.

Maybe wheeling him in Hannibal Lector stylee with a gag so he can't kick off but can hear and see the proceedings would've been a good idea

What's the point? He could still show his contempt by, for instance, shutting his eyes and humming loudly.

I think they were exploring the option of forcing prisoners to attend but realistically how would it work? Even dragging them in there in handcuffs they would make such a scene they would be removed. I did read an article from 2022 that suggested they were exploring the option of longer sentences if prisoners didn’t appear too.

When you're looking at a minimum term of over 40 years and will probably die in prison, I doubt that the threat of a longer sentence is much of a deterrent.

Should not be allowed to refuse to appear. Our justice system is crap. And he won't be in prison for 42 years .... no prisoner ever seems to serve their full sentence.

He certainly will, unless he dies first. He won't even be allowed to apply for parole till he's served 42 years, and he won't necessarily be released even then.

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 04/04/2023 19:03

The sentence was fair and the judge excellent. Minimum sentence is set in stone before parole. The git will be 70 plus

BUT he should have been MADE to sit in court for the sentence evil coward!!! .

midsomermurderess · 04/04/2023 19:18

How do people not understand what the judge said? He must serve 42 years (less time already served on remand) before he can even apply for parole. How can people not understand that? There is no ambiguity. It's almost as if people want it not to be the case. To nurse an imagined grudge against the criminal justice system.

I think it must have been 87 as I'm sure it was 30 years since it happened a few years back.
