Blown away by the cost of a box of a box of pukka tea bags in Sainsbury's. Yes £4 for a grand total of 20 bags. I was a regular pukka tea drinker but no more.

They are amazing! Way better than the pukka which just taste like a mouth full of herbs

Isn’t this kind of the point? 😂😂

They were 2 for £6 in tesco last week. I like the turmeric ones 😂

Love teapigs. My number 1 tea but only purchased once a year due to cost

I have gone full circle and starting buying aldi gold diplomat teabags, at £1.05 for 80 teabags they are pretty decent. I drink tea all day long so could no longer justify my tea habits!

Yeah but they are too herby

BCBird · 02/04/2023 20:48

The retailers are taking the pee. Clothes are ridiculously priced too. A dress that coukd have been 65 tops two years ago is now 95. I don't earn that in a day

BCBird · 02/04/2023 20:49

Tried to wean myself off Yorkshire tea but had to go back

gkhg · 02/04/2023 21:07

@thegrain £3.29 in other places. £5 is crazy for one piece of fruit

bevelino · 02/04/2023 21:13

The supermarkets are having a laugh with their price rises across most product lines. Their profits are off the scale and they already profited handsomely during the lockdown.

ChangeOfName22 · 02/04/2023 22:04

For whoever mentioned twinnings they have an offer on Superblends at the moment- on their website https://twinings.co.uk/collections/superblends?utmsource=swwbanner&utmmedium=banner&utmmcampaign=swbanner&utmm_content=33-super

Thought I'd share as I like the Metabolism one and couldn't afford a new box today in Sainsbury's as they're now £4.

MYSTERIOUSGIRLONLINE · 02/04/2023 22:10

I drink Tetley Tea and it's definitely the best I've tried. Goes down well with an Ulster Fry and of course a bacon sarnie. B&M is the place to go if looking a bargain on teabags, sauces, tinned goods, cereals etc. Pukka Teabags I've never heard of though!

TruthsAndALie · 02/04/2023 22:49

£6 for box of twinnings, £5 for Colgate toothpaste, £3.70 for warburtons gluten free bread and £4 for Heinz ketchup.

you might be able to get a bar of chocolate from the change off £20!!!! 😮

They still are 2 for £6 I got some today... Run to Tesco OP

Sorry to derail, but my cat loves a pukka teabag. He will rub his face on it till he drools.

Lmber · 02/04/2023 23:34

I buy M and S ones instead now. Sometimes one pound for a pack of 20.

I have too, and no one has actually mentioned that they’ve tasted a difference.

MadisonAvenue · 03/04/2023 10:31

Another price rise I’ve noticed is Bisto Best gravy at Tesco. I last bought a jar in January and it was £2.95 (I’ve checked my online order receipt), less than 2 months later it had increased to £4 although it’s now on a Clubcard offer at £3 until next Tuesday.

Ouch! That's pretty much cured me if my Pukka tea habit - I'll take a look at other, cheaper brands. Also I'll use real cinnamon sticks to make my cinnamon tea plus brew my turmeric tea from real turmeric tubers and my mint tea from real mint leaves. Meantime I'm drinking Rooibos/Redbush tea as a change from my Yorkshire tea. 🌹

Walkerbean16 · 03/04/2023 12:14

Not tea but this price increase had me shocked the other day, £4.50 for dove deodrant+ I've used dove for probably 20 years but won't be any more!

pauline987 · 03/04/2023 18:35

Not tea. But I couldn't get over the price of a tin of Heinz soup in Tesco's the other week. £1.70. For one can 😳

Omg I had the exact same reaction today and then bought a box of Twinings! What is going on with food price inflation Shock

Twinings was on offer just after christmas for £3 a box at Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsburys. I stocked up then. Give it a month or 2 and they'll drop the price again.
