Hmm.. maybe £1.50 for food plus however much electricity it uses to run the filter. Not a lot I don't think.

Jesus, horses are expensive!

In horse circles there’s a joke that non horsey people think horsey people are rich.
Horsey people know that horsey people can’t possibly be rich because horses take all of your money and your soul too. Horsey people are skint because they’d give their horse their last polo and starve themselves.

They are absolutely appalling value for money. Wouldn’t change it obviously but the ROI is dire.

curlymacv · 31/03/2023 00:02

3 dogs, small/medium, probably about £150 ish a month if all goes well. Biggest costs are insurance for one (£36) and meds for another (£70 ish).
However I often spend a lot more on vet bills and other stuff for my two elderly and decrepit ones.

4pink1blue · 31/03/2023 00:03

2 cats

£100 food (raw diet)
£60 insurance
£32 pet health plan
£30 litter
£20 treats, toys etc

But the joy they've brought into our house is priceless. My autistic son who really isn't arsed about anything absolutely adores them!!

Angelonthewall · 31/03/2023 00:03

One dog per month
£120 vet bills
£30 food
£10 treats

Angelonthewall · 31/03/2023 00:04

One dog per month
£120 vet bills
£30 food
£10 treats

Sorry I got my maths wrong
£120 vets
£120 food
£40 treats - at least!

Rebel2 · 31/03/2023 00:07

One cat, 2.8kg and eats like a horse
I refuse to add up his food or I would probably buy another horse
His insurance is £40pm, litter about £10pm
He cost me £150 at the vets last month for a urine test to find out there was nothing wrong with the little brat

Hohohoholidays · 31/03/2023 00:07

Over 1.2k😬

Sgtmajormummy · 31/03/2023 00:14

Mini Schnauzer
Dry food €1.20 a day. Treats 0.80? So €60 a month
Vet bills €25 average
Stripping €50 every 6-8 weeks so €35.
Total €120

Things get expensive when we go on holiday. DC1 comes to stay and we pay a dog sitter when necessary.

onionringcheeseypuff · 31/03/2023 00:19

A normal, 1 year old no breed of any note cat

£12.50pm vet health plan
£12 pm lifetime cover pet insurance
£15pm litter
£40 pm food
£10-£20 pm little toys and bits to ignore

MobilityCat · 31/03/2023 00:20

Please don't misunderstand me, I love animals but don't understand the way people beggar themselves with vet bills when the animal is past redemption. My neighbour's cat was injured and reduced to pulling itself forward by it's front legs and dragging it's back legs sideways.
My neighbours and I begged her to put it out of it's misery but she kept taking it to the vet, £500 each visit, and all he could do was advise her the same.
Eventually she did.
