Where do you do (most of) your food shopping?

I currently get a delivery from Tesco every week, but with the minimum online spend increasing to £50 from £40, and the value of Clubcard rewards decreasing, I may reconsider.

I live near Lidl and get the odd bits, but find the fresh produce poor and not a lot of choice for vegetarians.

Sainsburys,Tesco,Morrisons …I mix it up because it is so boring going to same supermarket!

RandomSunday · 30/03/2023 22:09

I’ve gone back to Tesco. I tried Aldi for a few weeks. I couldn’t find what I needed so had to go to Tesco anyway. Plus Aldi fruit and veg doesn’t last more than a day so it was a waste of money buying fruit and veg to last a week. Most of it ended up in the bin 😔

Tesco for me from now on

MintJulia · 30/03/2023 22:13

Bread & fish from Waitrose,
Meat from the butcher,
Fruit & veg from Tesco.

Mainly Asda as their online delivery comes from the depot, rather than the shop, and I get very few subs/ short dates. The app is good, I've had £50 of my shopping so far. The store is only 5 mins walk from my house so it's convenient for top ups. I sometimes also go to Sainsburys at weekends for 'nice' bits that I can't get in Asda. (Plus as an excuse to look at the clothes!)

Whatwouldnanado · 30/03/2023 22:34

M&S , Tesco and local co-op

ISpyCobraKai · 30/03/2023 22:41

Morrisons and Asda generally, Morrisons is closest and I have free delivery from Asda.
I pop in to Aldi and Lidl on occasion and Farmfoods.

Jellykat · 30/03/2023 22:47

Online Tesco (i dont drive and no other option around here) and local farm shop which works out cheaper and better for fresh fruit and veg!

familyissues12345 · 31/03/2023 10:40

Ocado usually, reasons - can nearly always get a next day slot, use by dates are always great, choice of "posh" food and M&S "basics" range (highly rate that) and I can pretty much always guarantee that Ocado will have full stock. I can't remember the last time they subbed anything!

Fall back after that would be whatever supermarket I fancy, each have a different reason for me to want to go to them.

Icantfindanewname · 31/03/2023 10:49

Ocado, as can shop with offers (they also price match Tesco) and they gained loyalty from me as there was only one week in lockdown when I couldn't get a delivery. Top up Lidl or Morrisons, depending what I want. Local butcher, who's prices are similar to Aldi, but that's where the similarity ends.

MrsSkylerWhite · 31/03/2023 10:50

Also and Lidl. Few special things (local cheeses, etc.) in Booths.

beakyboo10 · 31/03/2023 10:55

We have Morrisons home delivery and we have used it for the last 7 years. Occasionally do a top up shop in Sainsbury's if we fancy something a bit different. I just love the ease of shopping online.

Phos · 31/03/2023 10:58

Although I much much prefer Sainsburys and Tesco, I do end up going to Asda simply because it's the closest.

We do have an Aldi and a Lidl but I've never done a full shop at either, just find them too limiting, I'm not convinced I'd be able to get everything I need and I don't have the inclination to have to go there then do a top up at another supermarket for the sake of a small saving.

blebbleb · 31/03/2023 10:59

Morrisons. There's one close to me so I often go on my lunch break during the week.

FullBloom · 31/03/2023 11:00

Ocado with a little bit of Waitrose (in store or online). I'd rather use Waitrose online for everything as their range is better but stock is unreliable.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 31/03/2023 11:00

Tesco for the big shop every two or three weeks. They were brillant during lockdown, they deserve our loyalty.
Aldi for yogurt and cheese.
Tesco Express for milk and croissant
Waitrose for tea and wine
Majestic for more wine ( oops)

wonderful Aldens for meat and fish and whatever fruit and vegetables they are offering that week.

Wheretheskyisblue · 31/03/2023 11:05

I do ocado, £2.99 a month mid week delivery pass, min spend £40. I then top up at Lidl and use Waitrose fortnightly for weekend deliveries for items I can't get at Ocado.

littleredcrab · 31/03/2023 11:08

M&S most often, I'm disorganised, M&S is nearest and has a decent range of food.
Butchers for meat.
Co-op for top ups of milk etc.
Lidl for some store cupboard stuff.
Heron foods/B&M for lunch box snacks, cottage cheese, ice cream and random things like chip spice.
Morrisons about once every 6 weeks.
Costco a few times a year.

littleredcrab · 31/03/2023 11:09

I pay for delivery passes for Ocado and Morrisons but hardly ever use them 🤦‍♀️

Oceans1000 · 31/03/2023 11:10

I get free delivery from Morrisons (NHS) and pay for a delivery pass for ASDA which is mostly for in laws shopping which i do for them online every week (they pay for the pass).
I get deliveries from Asda and Morrisons.........some things are cheaper in Asda and others are cheaper in Morrisons so I alternate and use it to my advantage. I also have Aldi and Lidl within a mile and pick up bits there too. I like Farm Foods for frozen veg like chopped onions, leeks, diced swede etc and for frozen fruit, I stock up there every 6 weeks or so.
I don't buy branded (unless its on offer and cheap) and I don't buy ready meals

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 31/03/2023 11:11

Marks & Spencer with a little Waitrose mixed in.

Cincinnatus · 31/03/2023 11:12

Waitrose home delivery once a week. Don’t do any top ups.

Pasadenadreaming · 31/03/2023 11:13

Right now I do half tesco and half asda online but will probably switch entirely to asda once Tesco bring in the higher minimum order value as I prefer to do smaller but more frequent shops.

IhearyouClemFandango · 31/03/2023 11:14

M&S. Aldi for some groceries like coffee beans etc

VeggiJ · 31/03/2023 11:15

We do a main shop in Aldi then Tesco for extra bits and bobs that we can't find in Aldi. I'm vegan and think Aldi has a really good vegan/veggie range now and I can stock up on plant milk cheap.
All we really get from Tesco is tofu, their own brand vegan Mayo (only 75p!) and some treats we can't get from Aldi.
I try to stock up on cheap basics from Aldi as well and meal prep/plan to make things go further too :)

youveturnedupwelldone · 31/03/2023 11:15

I am fickle with my supermarkets! I shop variously at Waitrose, M&S and Aldi. Basically it depends on what's on the list that week. There are some things we use a lot that only come from one or the other so if there's a few of those on the list I'll go to that supermarket.
