Voted guilty by the jury. Thank goodness.

He is an absolute scourge on society .
Death sentence or whole life tariff only will do

123wentaway · 30/03/2023 15:59

Pity he can’t hang.
Olivia’s mum and family will have to live with her death for the rest of their lives. That piece of scum will get everything provided in prison. Hope he gets the shit kicked out of him.

Isthisexpected · 30/03/2023 20:10

I'm so relieved. And well done to the brave woman who has risked her life to testify against him for justice for Olivia and her family.

user146539089 · 30/03/2023 20:13

I hope all the middle-class drug users remember Olivia and people like her, caught in the crossfire of the lucrative drugs underworld, next time they contact their dealers.

jollygreenpea · 30/03/2023 20:17

Good, sadly he wont be rotting in jail, he will have plenty handed to him.

This is why I could never work in law, how do they sleep at night defending scum like this.

Indeed. It's dismaying to see so many posters on MN who think drug taking is no big deal. Children like Olivia are paying the price across the world for your after-dinner coke.

mnahmnah · 30/03/2023 20:23

His family seemed delightful too. Sticking their fingers up and other gestures as they left court. Disgustingly disrespectful.

user146539089 · 30/03/2023 20:24

Same applies to children drawn into country lines @GCAcademic Middle-class drug users wouldn’t want their precious dc delivering drugs on their bikes but they don’t mind that other peoples dc are doing exactly that.

Well some of us do Thankyou!

She was really brave and also stood up to his defence barrister.

I'm very pleased for you, I wouldn't.

Absolutely. It is not a victimless crime.

SunshineGeorgie · 30/03/2023 20:35

@jollygreenpea good!

CremeEggThief · 30/03/2023 20:36

Good. RIP Little Olivia.

helloDIY · 30/03/2023 20:44

@jollygreenpea because without proper legal representation then justice cannot be done. Proper legal representation is the cornerstone of a fair trial and a civilised society. It's critical that people like @SunshineGeorgie provide this representation so we can lock up the evil scum once the legal process has run its course.
I couldn't do it myself but I'm incredibly grateful to those that do.

I appreciate that, and god forbid if I ever found myself in such a predicament I would be dam grateful to all the people that do the job. I's just not for me.

This case wasn't really did he or didn't he though, I imagine that Olivia's mum remembers who shot her and killed her daughter.

grow up @jollygreenpea you absolute fool.

No

TangledBlue · 30/03/2023 20:56

I thought the female witness sounded awful (from what I’ve read of the court transcripts), she didn’t conduct herself well in the witness box, told multiple lies to the police and then the ‘let’s get to the good bit’ (Olivia’s murder) when trying to get the prosecution to shut up about her and Cashman’s sexual encounters.

I thought Cashman might get off, the case against him sounded pretty weak. Hopefully the police now go for the girlfriend under the proceeds of crime act.

user146539089 · 30/03/2023 21:00

@jollygreenpea Do yourself and everyone else a favour and apply your brain. A criminal justice system needs to have people who are prepared to defend these cases. It doesn’t mean they condone the crime. They work on a cab rank basis which means they can’t refuse to do it. They could be prosecuting their next case. Don’t use Olivia’s case and the tragedy inflicted on these communities to showcase your stupidity.

I said that I couldn't do the job, I wonder how they can defend them, not that we don't need people to do the job.

user146539089 · 30/03/2023 21:15

You’re trying to portray yourself as morally superior @jollygreenpea to people who do a very difficult job. Take Olivia’s name out of your mouth when trying to show off.

I'm doing no such thing. I'm not remotely trying to show off, I don't consider myself as morally superior.

All I said is I couldn't do their job.

We clearly are not seeing eye to eye or understanding each other so I'm happy to leave things here.

TigerMog · 30/03/2023 21:25

I can't bear to think what that little girl went through. She came out of her room to look for comfort, screaming she was scared. I can't bear it. The same as the kids in the Nashville school. How can people be so cruel and evil? How can anybody do this to children?

Littlesprouts · 30/03/2023 21:29

It's been a very unusual trial. Clearly a lot going on in the background too. I assumed the police would know who was involved and who they wanted from the start but if not Cashman, then who?

I don't know what sort of person could live with themselves trying to get away with this the way he did. I hope that is reflected in the sentencing.
