Waiting for out of hours to phone back, am I wasting their time?

I panic using these resources and always worry I'm over reacting. I have an 8 week old with a horrible wet cough, I've seen my GP twice who has said it's reflux but it's just gotten worse and worse and tonight he's coughing so hard, I can see mucus coming up but he's swallowing it, when he breathes you can hear the mucus in his throat rattling around, he is coughing so hard he's being sick and the sick has mucus in it, he's spluttering and keeps looking like he's choking so I panicked and phoned 111. I'm not convinced the reflux is causing this, he has reflux but has since day one I don't think it's suddenly causing this I'm sure he's got an infection and needs antibiotics. He's getting distressed trying to feed tonight and not keeping it down and I want to see a different doctor so out of hours seemed a good idea. Now I'm worrying I'm wasting their time!

You're not wasting anyone's time. This is exactly what 111 is for.

I work at 111, trust me you're absolutely not wasting anyone's time.

Has he been tested for lactose intolerance? My friend's daughter was like this and she was dismissed and told it was reflux but it was all the mucus that made her go back and it was found she's very severely intolerant to lactose.

Go to A&E. Youre hanging around waiting anyway and an 8 week old shouldnt be that poorly and struggling to breathe.

I've been in. They suspect pneumonia and have started him on antibiotics. Glad I went in now!!
