I've been feeling under the weather and off my food, today I really fancied some french onion soup. I just made a big pan full and it really hit the spot, like a hug in a mug!

What are your feel-good comfort foods?

This evening I made something that is definitely going in the repertoire.

Pork loin and onions in milk (maiale al latte). Brown the onions, garlic, herbs and lightly floured meat in a stew pot, deglaze with white wine. Add milk and cook for 45 minutes.
I added peas once I’d blitzed the sauce.
Bread to soak up the creamy gravy.

It hit all the right spots and worked out at €10 for three people.

Tinned spaghetti with finely chopped parsley and extra tomato purée : on buttered wholemeal toast.

Mashed potatoes with lots of butter and steamed leeks and more butter stirred through.

Tomato and red capsicum soup thickened with a potato, served with a cheddar toastie.

Hot chilli con carne with chips or rice.
Kedgeree

If I feel lazy, a chip butty or sourdough toast.
