What time do your DC get up on a weekend if left to their own devices, & how old are they?

DC is 4 and gets up around 6

2 week old - you know the drill lol

Heckythump1 · 19/03/2023 21:36

At the weekend:

DD8 - usually around 8.30-9am
DD15 - wakes around 12pm but doesn’t emerge out of her bedroom until around 2-3pm
DD18 - around 11am. She works in a pub til 2.30am on Friday and Saturday nights, she used to be an early riser til she got this job.

cocksstrideintheevening · 19/03/2023 21:38

Dts are 11, 630 on the button no matter what time they go to bed. At least now they're old enough to fend for themselves!

MuchTooTired · 19/03/2023 21:39

DS 5 wakes at about 6am, DD 5 wakes at about 9am if left to wake up by herself!

It's great having a night owl and a morning lark set of twins, means I never get a decent stretch of time alone 😂

TheChosenTwo · 19/03/2023 21:40

Dd2 (17) until late afternoon if I let her which I don’t, usually wake her about 10 if I haven’t heard her up and about. She works Saturdays and Sundays now though and has a day off from college on a Monday which is when she lies in. Or during the holidays.
ds (11) 8-9ish is usual at the weekends.

Namechangedforspooky · 19/03/2023 21:41

Mine both wake up once we’re up. I often have to wake them on school days. They’re 3 and 9 and have been like that since they were toddlers.
Neither will go to bed early though!

Idratherhaveapieceoftoast · 19/03/2023 21:42

DS age 8:

School day - 07:30
Weekend - 09:00

DD age 21m:

Week day - 07:30
Weekend - 08:45

🤷🏽‍♀️ Little DD has always been the sleep gift giver.. she actually slept until 10:00 on my birthday 🥳

spacechimp79 · 19/03/2023 21:42

My DS who is 16 has always been an early riser. Used to be 5.30 when a baby and toddler which killed me. Then improved to 6ish, then 7ish and now is around 8.30.
Doesn't seem to matter what time he goes to bed. Not like me at all as when I was a teenager, I could sleep in all day.

iwantchinese · 19/03/2023 21:48

19 months and 8 months and they wake up between 9am-10am, we do have the odd early morning but they seem to be rare!🙏🏻 (i am dreading returning to work and ruining this🫣😂)

Funkyslippers · 19/03/2023 20:05

Covidiokilledtheradiostar wow, that's early for an 11 year old!

I don't think it is necessarily - my 12 year old isn't allowed to go downstairs until 7am but is in the bathroom at ten to ready to go downstairs as soon as his clock says 7...

All mine have been early risers until about age 14 or 15.

We brought the no going downstairs until 7am rule in for dc1 before the now 12 year old was even born 🤣

Eldest has a part time job and often has to start at 8:30am at weekends (up at 7am) but can sleep past midday if she doesn't have to be up. She was always up before 7am until she was 14 though.

Middle one is 15 and sleeps until about 10:30/ 11am if no sports on a Saturday or Sunday but has only started sleeping past 7am in the last year.

ImAGoodPerson · 19/03/2023 21:52

15 and 17, they generally get up in the afternoon when not at school/college/working. They are fine at getting up early when they need to though.

I have 2 dogs that get up too early at weekends for my liking, I have no idea what I was thinking getting puppies once my kids got older.

ImAGoodPerson · 19/03/2023 21:54

For those posters who wake up their older teen kids when they have nothing on, why do you do this? This would never cross my mind to wake them unless they needed to be up. Surely that's one of the lovely things about being a teen 😂

Workinghardeveryday · 19/03/2023 21:54

Dd17, noonish.

ds12 11 on weekends
dd11 9.30 on weekends

bakewellbride · 19/03/2023 22:12

Today 4 and a half year old ds was up at 5:50 then nearly 1 year old dd around 6:20 I think.

The earliest dd ever started the day was 3:45. That was a bad day.

Starting the day can generally range from 4-7:30 with our kids. I try to convince ds that anything before 6 is 'nighttime' but clearly I failed at that this morning!

Ricco12 · 19/03/2023 22:42

6 and 8 years old

6am one gets up and they other 6.30/7

Forever42 · 19/03/2023 22:47

DCs are 13 and 11. They still get up before 7 most weekends. Usually they make lots of noise and wake me up too 😠.

SpaceJamtart · 19/03/2023 23:10

5yr old - 5AM, school days and weekends
5yr old - 7 AM for school but has to be woken up, will sleep till 8/8:30 on weekends
4yr old - any where in between her sisters.

They all share a room and the early risers are good at being quiet and have recently started just playing quietly rather than waking me up on 2 out of 3 days.

Mumuser124 · 19/03/2023 23:53

15 year old- sleeps in until 9.30-10am on weekends.

Almost 3 year old will sleep in until about 8.15-8.30am.

Labraradabrador · 20/03/2023 00:01

Two 5 year olds and typically 7-8am. Really different sleep patterns though - one fights bedtime (typically 7-8pm) and will fall asleep between 7:30 and 10pm+. She is more likely to sleep late, and is a nightmare to walked on school days. Other one drops off within minutes of getting into bed. She tends to wake earlier (sometimes 5ish) but will go back to sleep(in my bed) until 7ish

BumpyaDaisyevna · 20/03/2023 06:40

Eldest is 13. Up at 6.30 if school but weekends stays in bed as long as we take to organise breakfast (probably 10am).

Youngest 11 - up at 7 both on school and non school days.

CatOnTheChair · 20/03/2023 06:52

Another "my tweens ain't got the message yet".
11 year old 6.30.
13 year old - usually 6.30, occasionally closer to 7.

These are considered lie-ins now after years and years of 5am starts.

Meandfour · 20/03/2023 06:56

DD9 can be anywhere around 8-9
DS ages 5 & 3 both wake around 7-7.30

newborn DS still sporadic but the past 4 days it’s been around 7ish after a feed at 4ish.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 20/03/2023 07:01

8yo DD gets up at 6ish every day.
