What people can you remember being really popular at one point, and then seemed to drop out of existence?

Simon Thomas lost his wife and detailed his grief in depth and breached his own child's privacy in doing so - but got over it quickly and married a younger woman.

Really nasty and a blatant dig at a grieving widow.

Could it be that some of these people have just reached an age where they want to work less? Especially if they made a great deal of money. Others, like Anneka Rice have taken time out to pursue other interests, in her case art, which I understand she's rather good at. She's now back with her former programme which has received some good reviews. I was quite surprised to discover Floella Benjamin was chancellor of Exeter University when I graduated, since I only remembered her on Play School but, as someone else said, she a baroness now, on account of her charity work, I think.

Re smack The Pony, isn't Doon McKichan on Two Doors Down? And lots of other things. The third one (can't remember name) was in EastEnders a few years ago.

Helen is my DP’s celebrity ‘free pass’. He always did have good taste. 😉
He first noticed her in Cardiac Arrest & he must have watched every episode of Cold Feet about six times. I believe she got fed up of fame and stepped back from acting to become a mum.

It was required viewing when my dad has the remote 😁

From a bit of googling Nick Hancock is doing the usual radio etc bits and nobs of work.

However, very surprisingly to me, Rory McGrath got himself a a criminal rexird with assault and harrasment charges/convictions. So, that explains that one 😬

To be honest, when a male celebrity from the 70s/80s/90s disappears from public, I do tend to think "FFS what did he do?/What's he been convicted of?"

Bernie Clifton lives down the road from me, as far as I know he's still there. Nice big house in Barlow, Derbyshire. Not a mansion but a big detached house at the side of the main road.
