I just heard a Funky Pigeon advert and they pronounced it bo-quet ( to rhyme with so) but I would pronounce it boo-quet. I am Scottish so am willing to accept I pronounce it oddly!

I've never heard anyone pronounce it boo-kay

LilLilLi · 16/03/2023 20:44

Bow-kay

Midlands.

Tubbyinthehottub · 16/03/2023 20:44

It's boo-kay. Like PP said, it's a French word so it's not bow

VintageThoughts · 16/03/2023 20:44

Bow kay

French person here and the pronunciation boo kay is correct. Bowe kay. Is wrong.

Meredusoleil · 16/03/2023 20:46

Tbf, most people I know just say a bunch of flowers rather than a bouquet of flowers 💐

I believe the word is French in origin and should be pronounced boo-kay.

It's a french word not an english one. The english translation would be "a bunch of flowers".

I say bow-kay but i'd say that due to the frenchness, boo-kay is probably correct.

LucyLeave · 16/03/2023 20:46

It might be wrong but I couldn't bring myself to say boo-kay.

Now you've asked, I'm not sure!!! I think Bow kay but I might sometimes say Boo kay. Does it matter?

LucyLeave · 16/03/2023 20:49

If you asked a florist for a boo-kay around here I think there would be sniggers.

Bow-Kay

This way.

Boo-kay London.

Funky pigeon has a very distinctive accent though so if you were from that particular town maybe thats how they pronounce it.

Where's around here?
Wherever it is, I'm sure most people wouldn't be rude enough to snigger!

WeddingVegetables · 16/03/2023 20:52

Boo kay. I'm also Scottish.

PuppyMonkey · 16/03/2023 20:53

I’d pronounce it boo-kay if I ever needed to say that word, but I’d say “bunch of flowers” in RL.Flowers Grin

Whichwhatnow · 16/03/2023 20:53

For those saying bow, is that as in 'bow and arrow' (which to me sounds more like bo) or 'take a bow'? Not that it matters as I say boo-kay but I'm just interested!

LucyLeave · 16/03/2023 20:54

Yes Bow to rhyme with so.

MerryMarigold · 16/03/2023 20:56
