EasyJet hand luggage

Posting here for traffic. DD is going on a school trip at the weekend for 3 days and they are flying with EasyJet. To keep costs and time to a minimum College have told them they can’t check any luggage and can only take hand luggage. Fair enough. Except they are telling them that they can only take a small rucksack that will fit under their seat and don’t have access to the overhead lockers. I think Easyjet have enforced this in order to get people to purchase extra seating that allows larger bags. I’m pretty sure when we have flown with them 2 years ago we were told the same but when we got on the plane people were storing larger bags and small wheeled cases in the overheads as usual.

DD will be hard pushed to get all her clothes for 3 days in a small backpack. Would she be okay if she used her bigger backpack that will fit in the overheads no problem but might not fit under her seat?

Look up the brand Cabin Max. All the bags state which luggage rules they fit into. I got a really smart backpack that fits exactly into the easyJet and Ryanair rules.
They do totes and backpacks and teeny wheeled suitcases
