Really impressed with the budget

I’ll give it to the chancellor. He delivered a bloody good budget today. Childcare reform (including increasing rates paid to providers by 30%) and 30 hours free for 1&2 year olds. Uk has avoided recession despite a global pandemic and Ukrainian war, more money on occupational health, plan to get more people into work

@taxpayer1 the government has also announced more funding into childcare sector, these things just take time to sort out which is likely why they have left this to 2024..

Yes. People complaining because it won't start tomorrow and they will miss out. Crazy.

On second thought we seem to have pulled £11bn out of our arse for yet more defence spending we simply do not need as it should be our intention to never invade countries alongside the US ever again surely?

But yet no extra spending for schools or NHS which we know are struggling

Always money for war that never changes does it?

Hidden in the tiny small print of the Tory budget is a massive tax rise for every worker in the UK.
Jeremy Hunt froze the personal tax allowance. With inflation at 8.8% this means in real terms Jeremy Hunt cut your personal tax allowance by £1,100.
That tax rise starts in April

To be fair that was announced in the autumn statement though.

They can promise what they like, because they won’t get in next year and we’ll all be starting from scratch. These parties only ever seem to be in long enough to cock it up. I’m alright jack Tory numpties.

Are you Rishi Sunak in disguise?

Mypinkysperky · 17/03/2023 12:27

No I haven’t been able to fit in a 14 yr olds clothes for quite a while now

OP has not come back. Must be a busy day for them, planning that trip to Rwanda for the Home Secretary.

Nzyellowbelly · 18/03/2023 09:56

The only decent budget would've been higher taxes for the top 1% to put more money into the NHS and such. The torys are still looking after their wealthy mates while trying to fool the electorate with little hand outs which will either never happen or will make little or no difference.

Amazing how many are actually believing this shower of crap budget. Just thankful it hasn’t sent us into another economic crisis.
This budget has been put together purely to benefit the rich, big businesses & to win votes not support families or those most in need of financial support.
The flip side of the earlier availability of free childcare is all stay at home parents will now be forced back into work earlier in their children’s lives under fear of financial sanctions if they choose not to put kids into care, from 9months, & go back to work.
