Has anyone got a roll of ready rolled pizza dough from Aldi?

I've just unrolled my dough and it's full of brown specks, I can't remember if it's usually full of these specks or if there's something not quite right with this roll. I need to cook it in a few minutes, help!

Looks wheaty?

BertieBotts · 14/03/2023 17:18

No, I've had that before and it's mould. Check the best before date.

It shouldn't look like that. The mould dots are more like a greyish colour.

Season0fTheWitch · 14/03/2023 17:18

Mine have never looked like that

Tabitha888 · 14/03/2023 17:20

This is why I don't shop there, so many times there food is off etc

It's got todays date on it 😕 the specks are brown though rather than grey. As a PP said it looks wheaty, which made me question it!

It is mould.

Whitney168 · 14/03/2023 17:24

My answer to 'would you eat this?' re. sell-by dates etc. is almost always yes 😂- but I wouldn't eat that, no, it looks like mould.

IClaudine · 14/03/2023 17:27

Or possibly this?

I have the pizza express one from Tesco (dough stealth boast 😆😳) and ours doesn’t look like that for comparison. I don’t think I’d want to eat that.

IClaudine · 14/03/2023 17:27

It's possibly (hopefully) more likely to be this actually. I wouldn't expect mould to be that wheaty colour.

I have had similar specks in pancake or Yorkshire pudding batter if I rest them in the fridge for a while. Think it's a normal reaction? Another link re pizza dough specifically:

We had one recently - does it not say something about the specks on the packaging - I have a vague memory it does and that it is ok.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 15/03/2023 16:43

Sorry I forgot to update! I checked the packaging like @Colinthedaxi said and it does indeed mention specks in the dough! I decided to chance it, we ate it and nothing happened, we're all fine 🙂 Thanks all!

I bought some from. Tesco express last summer in the heatwave and it was very obviously speckled with mould despite being in date and smelled bad too. I presume that during in delivery it had sat on the heat for longer than it should. Got a refund no problem.

pinkpanther84 · 15/03/2023 17:05

I have had that from Aldi before and it was fine

Oblomov23 · 15/03/2023 17:26

Wouldn't have bothered me, I'd hsvr just eaten it.

PlateBilledDuckyPerson · 15/03/2023 17:27

No, I haven't.
