These bastards should never be allowed parole. All the fucking stats show them to be serial recidivists. It makes me despair. Child abuse should mean an automatic life sentence.

I wonder what the old scuzzball did ? (is he back at Portland )

I'm assuming he's been returned to The Verne on Portland. It's a grim looking fortress from the outside. Hope he never gets released again and dies there.

TwoMonthsOff · 13/03/2023 22:45

@RainyReadingDay
tis a very chilly place Portland

StressedToTheMaxxx · 13/03/2023 23:02

I thought Gary Glitter had died? Obviously not!

CampfireZen · 13/03/2023 23:10

@CatNamedEaster
By the way, the Independent link contains the phrase "child pornography" which really fucks me off so I've sent them a complaint.

Good for you. I've followed your lead and done the same.

Once a sicko, always a sicko.

Needs putting down.

MsInsomniac · 13/03/2023 23:14

He was automatically released at the half way point because that’s how uk sentences work. No one is released later than the half way point, even for “bad behaviour” unless they’ve attracted a new prison sentence whilst inside. It’s not the parole board who released him, it’s automatic.
Probation have recalled him, for breach of his licence conditions (probably having a smart phone). He will be returned to the nearest local prison. Not a Cat C.
The parole board will become involved now, in looking at the recall and deciding if he can be re released. He will only now secure re-release if he can convince the parole board his risk has reduced. If not, he will serve the remaining 8 years of his licence in prison.

lifeissweet · 13/03/2023 23:30

I'm generally supportive of our system of parole. I think, in many cases, it can be a way to continue rehabilitation while supervised on the outside. If we believe that prison is about rehabilitation as well as punishment, then it is a good concept when we'll supported and done well (that probation is badly funded and barely fit for purpose is just like everything else in the UK at the moment)

However, rehabilitation seems to be impossible for these kinds of offenders and there does need to be a distinction made between child abusers and other criminals.

These people are known and proven manipulators. They can say what they need to convince a panel they can control themselves while having no desire to do so whatsoever.

They should have to serve their whole sentence in prison and be on a permanent suspended sentence for life afterwards.

AnyFucker · 14/03/2023 00:13

I have also made a complaint regarding the terminology used.

Giggorata · 14/03/2023 00:34

They never change, and especially not after being banged up with a load of other paedophiles.

They spend their time recounting their assaults to each other, often using the trial transcripts, which carry every sordid detail, and which they are allowed to have, to gloat over. 🤮

GrimDamnFanjo · 14/03/2023 00:53

Will he be back for the remaining 8 yrs?
Or will he be entitled to,parole hearings?

He's 79 now, I hope he doesn't get another opportunity to harm children again.

Not mushroom for doubt about that...

One thing we can be sure of...Glitter was NOT a fun~guy.

Completely agree.
Being abused as a child is devastating.
Perps need to be incarcerated for life.
Maybe chemical castration would work, if it reduces the drive to abuse children.

howmanybicycles · 13/03/2023 21:19

I'm sure that's true but reducing the market and impacting even just those who do it for profit is clearly a good thing.

Every little helps.

oakleaffy · 13/03/2023 19:49

It might stop the urge to W@nk, which is why he is trying to access children again.

I'm not sure it works like that. Also, it can stop rape but not sexual assault. I don't care what they do to the vile piece of shit but I want it to work.

Lwrenagain · 14/03/2023 12:18

Just seen a headline saying he'll likely die in prison and I just hope it's utterly miserable for him, because he really is a horrid little shite.

If they let him out again then we really are enabling predators over keeping children safe.

HRTQueen · 14/03/2023 19:56

It will be miserable for him in prison

he should never have been released he along with other sex child offenders never change it’s just a waiting game until they are caught again

I see no issue with them being chemically castrated it apparently lowers levels of aggression too I still wouldn’t trust a sex offender to not want to conflict harm
