Fairy Liquid users - are your bubbles rubbish too?

Trivial frowning..
Have any of you Fairy Liquid washer uppers noticed a reduction in the power of the Fairy?
My bubbles aren't so big and disappear really quickly.
Is this where our society is taking us? Everything we trusted becoming weaker?

I hâte non eco ones, bio d the best eco one around, no toxic colours either

Fizzadora · 11/03/2023 20:26

Not just me then. My dishwasher developed a fault a year ago so I have gone back to washing up by hand as there's only two of us but I can't believe how rubbish Fairy is now, especially on baking trays and roasting tins.
I will have to try some alternatives before deciding whether to replace the dishwasher.
I might need to get a whole new kitchen if I don't replace it because I can't think of any way to fill the gap. All for a decent bottle of washing up liquid.

Disagree with people saying its not the bubbles that do the cleaning. Detergents are what make bubbles and that's what cleans your dishes.

The fewer the bubbles, the less polar the molecule; or the less molecules there are for bubbles.... so the cleaning power has gone down too.

Another issue is hard water. It's not practical for everyone but water softeners significantly improve foaming... if you do the believe me, tip a litre of water from a Brita filter into a pot and add some detergent and do the same with regular Kent) super-hard water.

I had noticed it wasn't cutting through the grease properly but now you mention it...no bubbles either 😥

Time to buy the cheap stuff. Bye bye Fairy!

colouringindoors · 11/03/2023 20:35

Yes! Thinking this tonight! Dishwasher out of action for the last few weeks. Fairy is Not what it used to be. Need to use Loads, more than once, not sure it's worth it any more!

Branster · 11/03/2023 20:37

Yes, it's been like thing for quite a while. Less bubbles for sure, but the cleaning is not as good anymore, it simply doesn't remove grease as well as it used to. Next bottle will be a random supermarket own brand and I won't be persuaded by a big Fairy bottle on special offer.

Cadburysucks · 11/03/2023 20:41

I remember a bottle would last ages a few years ago. At least 6 months, and would lather up the washing bowl quite quickly. Shame.

Nsky62 · 12/03/2023 06:24

For those with broken dishwashers replace far cleaner!
love mine, when it goes wrong will replace, years without one, updated kitchen with one, fab

GetDownkeith · 12/03/2023 08:56

Ooh I haven't noticed I am still annoyed at the bottle going from 383ml to 320ml. When I picked some up last week I thought the bottle felt small.

LouLou198 · 12/03/2023 09:18

Yes! I have switched to Method. The bottle has a pump, 2 squirts is plenty and the bottle lasts ages. I was going through Fairy far too quickly!

SoGladofYou · 12/03/2023 11:16

Yes. I’ve noticed this for the last few months now.

FordCreek · 12/03/2023 11:29

I hate it and the smell is different. Really ghastly. DH buys it as he does the washing up but I’ve started buying my own bottle of something different as I can’t stand the smell of Fairy now.

Newtrix · 12/03/2023 11:31

I bought tescos own to take to a lodge as it was each and its so much better than fairy!

bellsbuss · 12/03/2023 11:50

Had this conversation with my sister recently , the fairy power max is what the old fairy used to be like . The original is like piss now

picky1956 · 11/07/2023 17:52

picky1956 · 11/07/2023 17:53

the80sweregreat · 11/07/2023 17:53

Yes, it's not the washing up product it used to be.

picky1956 · 11/07/2023 17:55

lets tell the fairy company or do they think we all got dishwasher

Henowner · 11/07/2023 17:57

Noticed this a while back, bubbles just disappear! Where are they going to?

the80sweregreat · 11/07/2023 17:58

It's an inferior product to my youth
I do live in a hard water area though

MrsMitford3 · 11/07/2023 18:00

Funnily enough I had been thinking it was taking a lot more to get the greasy pots and pans washed up-how utterly infuriating and foolish on their part as I am def going to look at other options-

I am allergic to some so this was always my go to!!!

It's lurpack all over again!!

StopStartStop · 11/07/2023 18:00

They used to advertise it with the bubbles. They couldn't do that now. It's very disappointing and yes, my bowl is greasy, too.

Baldieheid · 11/07/2023 18:05

Fairy is crap now. The Platinum works well but make my hands really sore so stuff that. I like Ecover, but DH still insists on shitty Fairy. Why, I do not know. Its crap.

ForTheSakeOfThePenguin · 11/07/2023 18:08

Your OP made me smile! 25 years ago I was talking to my friend who had studied a chemistry PhD and was absolutely passionate about the products the multinational he worked for was launching.

So we started talking about detergents and the power of water and I mentioned that cheap washing up liquids didn’t make as much bubbles.

He looked at me with all the candescence he could muster and said “The bubbles don’t do anything! Do you realise we add the bubbles so the housewives can believe their soap is going further?”

I didn’t care, I loved the bubbles anyway! 😁
