Is there a weird nausea/headache bug going round?

Teen DS (nearly 16) has been ill off and on for nearly a fortnight. His main symptom initially was sudden severe nausea, although he hasn't actually been sick. He's also had intermittent headaches and fluey symptoms, no energy, and is a bit dizzy and bunged up today. He's missed several days of school and spent most of half term (last week) sleeping. The GP is sending him for blood tests and we're wondering about migraine, as there's a strong family history, but given the fluey symptoms, I'm really hoping it's just a virus that will pass. Lateral flow tests have been negative. GP gave him Buccastem for the nausea yesterday and it helped a bit, but made his headache worse.

I have had this for the last 3 days. Shivery sicky and headaches. Hope your son shakes it off soon.

My 16yr old DS came home from school early Monday with a temp and was sick
once and complained of headache and feeling dizzy. He’s been in bed since - seemed to be improving this morning but temp back up this evening and feeling queasy and dizzy again. Sounds very similar.

DS is brighter today, so hopefully whatever it is is on its way out. we've got a teacher strike, which is quite handy, but he says he feels as if he could probably have managed school. Fingers crossed that he'll be OK tomorrow.

He's back to square 1 this morning :( I really hoped it was on its way out.

We've seen a different GP today who says his throat is very red (despite not being sore) and thinks it's viral - possibly labyrinthitis. She's given him cyclizine and brought his blood tests forward.

(I realise I'm basically talking to myself at this point 😆)

Hope he feels better soon OP x

Thanks. The cyclizine has worked much better than the buccastem and not given him a headache, so hopefully he'll be sorted by Monday 🤞

I had something like this from Christmas Day all through January. Awful dizziness to the point I vomited (first time non alcohol related in 50 years and even that very rarely 😱) that was scary. I'd have good days and bad days. By week 4 I was sick of feeling rotten and unable to cook or load/unload the washing machine without dizziness and/or nausea, did an econsult and got some antibiotics from the doctor that shifted it. It was some kind of sinus infection, I had pain at all the sinus points. No temperature despite getting the shivers, congested and unable to clear it with Sudafed, paracetamol and ibuprofen although they did help make it more bearable.

Yes definitely OP. I’m not usually a headachy person except for sinus trouble but I had about 2 weeks of really nasty headaches & feeling really sick, although I didn’t vomit. There seem to be so many horrible bugs around.
