What pancakes/fillings will you be having today?

I quite enjoy a savoury one myself like cheese and broccoli. Or bacon. 😛

DDs will have Nutella/Biscoff/lemon and sugar/honey/blueberries/whipped cream in some kind of combination of the above.

DH likes plain lemon and sugar but will probably also have something like Nutella and banana.

I just put all the toppings out on the table/some keeping warm in the oven and keep the pancakes coming. Just traditional ones but I try to make them thin.

It's not half term in all of England, so it will be tonight here.

bringonyourwreckingball · 21/02/2023 11:36

I’ve made this [https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/cheese-recipes/unbelievable-provencal-bake/]

then the kids will have Nutella, biscoff, squirty cream and maybe some token fruit on dessert pancakes

MrsAvocet · 21/02/2023 11:47

We had ours last night as DS has a sports thing tonight and we'll be home late, but I had mine with sugar and lemon, DH had nutella and cream, and DS had vegan ice cream.
Reading this thread has made me tempted to make myself some more for lunch though...

I bought the Lemon sherbet sauce from M&S to try.

bakewellbride · 21/02/2023 12:01

Cheese and veg with ham for the kids.

Then chocolate spread and banana or lemon and sugar.

bigbluebus · 21/02/2023 12:14

We usually do savoury followed by sweet but due to DH needing to eat early and DS needing to eat late today I'm just proposing sweet pancakes so I can cook a dinner that they can eat whenever they want and then cook their own pancakes afterwards.

It'll be a choice of maple syrup or lemon and sugar.

londonloves · 21/02/2023 12:18

Crispy duck!

TeaCupFlower · 21/02/2023 12:24

White chocolate and raspberries inside and a drizzle of syrup over the top. 😋

ThreeRingCircus · 21/02/2023 12:25

We always do an all-pancake dinner too. Tonight we're having:

Pancakes filled with bolognese, rolled up and put in an oven dish. Topped with bechemel and grated cheese then baked in the oven.

Followed by sweet pancakes with whatever topping people want. I'm going to have blueberries and yoghurt, DDs have requested banana and Nutella.

Watercoloursky · 21/02/2023 12:53

My OH and I both work from home, so we're having pancakes for lunch AND dinner! (may be slightly obsessed). Lunch will be ham, mushrooms, and mozzarella... dinner probably a savoury/spicy sausage and lentil type filling.

TheDogthatDug · 21/02/2023 12:58

Lemon and sugar for me, golden syrup for DH. DH and I were discussing the othe day why we don't have pancakes more often as we both like them and are so simple to make, we both couldn't answer why.

Hidingawaytoday · 21/02/2023 12:59

I've had 3 lemon and sugar and one with biscotti spread 😋. Now on a sugar high for the afternoon wfh...

I always think this, we love them and I'll go through a phase of making them every week or so for a few weeks after pancake day but it tails off each year!

Workinghardeveryday · 21/02/2023 13:02

kids will be having syrup or Nutella and eat as many as possible before feeling sick 🙄😂

TheChosenTwo · 21/02/2023 13:08

Ds had 8 for breakfast! Lemon and sugar.
All of us will have them for pudding tonight, dh and I will stick with lemon and sugar, the dc will choose from that or I also have squirty cream, chocolate spread, raspberries and strawberries, biscoff, melted chocolate, maple syrup, marshmallow fluff, can’t think what else is lurking in the cupboards but will be a sugar fest!

TheChosenTwo · 21/02/2023 13:09

Dc do have them maybe once a month as a Sunday breakfast (only with a couple of topping choices though!) as we have hens and often a glut of eggs.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 21/02/2023 13:10

Leeks with Stilton is the best pancake filling. I'm not bothered by the sweet stuff but here the favoured sweet filling is warm, tinned peaches and pineapple with vanilla ice cream.

Florissant · 21/02/2023 13:14

Apples slices sauteed in butter and brown sugar and topped with vanilla ice cream is also tasty.

cowsaysmoo · 21/02/2023 13:15

We have ours with strawberry jam.

Riapia · 21/02/2023 13:17

So good to see pancake day never changes.
People still exaggerate about the number of pancakes consumed and the fillings.

Deathraystare · 21/02/2023 13:48

The classic lemon and sugar - well.. sweetener!

MischiefTheChicken · 21/02/2023 14:27

What makes you say that? I haven’t read anything on this thread I don’t find believable

That was supposed to be to @Riapia

GrouchyKiwi · 21/02/2023 14:34

We had banana pancakes for lunch (with mashed banana through the batter as I wanted the skins for my garden). They were thicker than I normally make them, but the children seemed to like them.

DD1 is sick, and DH is at work so I have more batter in the fridge for another day. I'll make crepes with that, and have them with lemon & sugar, golden syrup, and jam (obvs not all at once), as is only right and proper. Unless I find some energy to make chocolate sauce so we can have them with ice cream.

ItsJustNotWorking · 21/02/2023 15:10

We are having leek, cheese, mushroom and ham. Followed by Crepes suzette.
