I just can’t understand what he was thinking??

On the one hand, very kindly donating his time and expertise.

On the other hand, he turned this case into a circus.

His categorical declarations sent people wild with speculation. It’s awful, and I just can’t understand why he did it.

In the enquiry he claimed that he pinpointed Nicola’s body within ten minutes and wanted the identified spot investigated more carefully/directly. The police didn’t agree and didn’t do whatever direct investigation he wanted.
He has since analysed the footage he took and is now absolutely sure that was Nicola and if they’d looked they’d have found her that same morning.

He's hoping people would forget how convinced he was when speaking in "interviews" that N can't be in the river, because "he (an expert ) didn't find her body" and thus drove all sorts of speculation and wild searches by YouTubers in the area.

He's at it again!
