Anyone here with severe social anxiety. What job do you do?

Just that. I have severe social anxiety and think I've messed things up so much at work that I need to leave.

But what to do? I'm terrified of people 😥 and nearly 50.

Try propanolol from the GP for high profile things e.g. public speaking, meetings, high stress days. For general day to day interactions do as much of it as you can and the nerves will get less. Focus on the other person, ask questions. Is there anything in particular that is difficult. Lots and lots and lots of people have found the wfh of Covid has made life easier. Many people do not like the social chit chat of work life - not just those with social anxiety.
Also think about the menopause if your anxiety is increasing and whether HRT might be a way forward.
but the propanolol has been a game changer for me

I’m in the highest management level of a company and would say I have social anxiety by the way

GizmoIsSoFluffy · 18/02/2023 22:22

Thankyou. Propananol doesn't work for me, takes my heart rate down to about 45. Every time I try talking to people I just get it wrong, so I only try now and even the thought of it makes me have an anxiety attack.
But I thank you for replying and hold onto hope....

What do you do now? Could you work from home?

I know how you feel. I’m in same and looking for remote positions. Working with people is extremely draining for me. Meetings where I need to speak up make me physically panic.

I hear you x
