What state do you leave your house in when you go to work?

Breakfast dishes in the sink? Dirty PJs on the floor? Do you make your bed? Are your kids’ beds made?

I find that I struggle to leave any washing up, clothes etc around. I hate coming home and having to tidy up.

You guys are definitely not my crew 😳

I would give anything to be this tidy and organised. I just cannot function any earlier than I already do.

Hopeforrainbows · 16/02/2023 19:20

I feel I have to add that I do properly clean my house but only once a week.

As for tidying …. Just DONT OPEN THE CUPBOARDS! 😂

fatforty · 16/02/2023 19:21

Pretty tidy but not immaculate.
Bed is folded back and neat but I don't make the bed up. Jammies in the wash and towels all hung up.
Cup/glass might be in the sink if I have time to have a drink before I start work

QueSyrahSyrah · 16/02/2023 19:21

I can't leave the room without making the bed, never mind the house.

Generally straighten couch cushions / fold throws, move stray cups or glasses from bedrooms to kitchen, put dirty laundry in bathroom basket, empty bins that need emptying and take the bags out when I go.

Dishes / laundry / vacuum is for when we get home.

FindingMeno · 16/02/2023 19:21

Its either really tidy, or a complete mess.
There's no in between!

Findyourneutralspace · 16/02/2023 19:21

You know when they say on Crimewatch, ‘it looks like they left in a rush’?

That.

Beezknees · 16/02/2023 19:28

Tidy. I insist that teen DS makes his bed and washes his breakfast things. I do the same. PJs go under pillow if they're ok to be worn again, or wash basket if they need a wash.

gingercat02 · 16/02/2023 19:34

Dishes in dishwasher, PJ's in the bed, duvet pulled up but not really a made bed (not neat no cushions and shit!)
Everyone fed, humans and cats, humans showered and dressed appropriately and off to school and work. That's about it!

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 16/02/2023 19:39

It generally looks like we’ve been burgled, but that the house was clean before that happened. So, washing machine and dishwasher on, surfaces clean, but still clothes, books, toys etc all over the floor.

Briocheandbrie · 16/02/2023 19:40

I can't handle coming home to a messy house. I'm up early with the dog so sort whatever hasn't been done the night before, usually dishwasher emptied or a wash on. Kids go to breakfast club so no dishes to sort, just towels to hang up and beds to make. The robot hoover goes on every morning just before we leave. The evening cycle of dinner/homework/packed lunches/club is chaotic enough without catching up from the morning

No, no, yes, no

motherofawhirlwind · 16/02/2023 19:45

Tidy on the cleaners day, otherwise a shit heap. I get up as late as possible and can't be arsed of an evening.

Greenestgreen · 16/02/2023 19:47

I leave it as it is. Could care less. Will tidy up when I get home. Too high pressure a job to care what my house looks like.
The only thing I proactively do is to ensure duvets are pulled back. People sweat in beds all night. Cannot understand why people make them in morning. Ensure pillows/mattress etc are exposed to air/breeze from window.
No-one is in my house during the day so who cares if it’s tidy or not.

Wherethewildthymeblows · 16/02/2023 19:48

I live in a permanently messy house - not unhygienically messy, but untidy messy. I always have done, probably always will. I don't do anything specific to the state of the house before leaving it, but that doesn't mean I don't do anything. Dishes will be put in the dishwasher, towels are always hanging up anyway, dirty clothes are usually in the laundry bag, bed is made very occasionally. But I don't do anything specifically. As in, any mess left in the morning will like as not still be untouched when I get home. It bothers me occasionally, but not enough to change my ways.

trampoline123 · 16/02/2023 19:49

As tidy as possible, we rush out as have to get 2 toddlers ready too.

We pretty much always manage to wash up, make beds, any dirty washing in the laundry or put on the dumping table. If we can toys get out away but generally they're left around.

dudsville · 16/02/2023 19:50

I don't have kids, so this doesn't count, but my house is fairly consistently in an acceptable state regardless of whether I'm going out.

megletthesecond · 16/02/2023 19:50

Messy. The table is cleared though.
I have to get one school refuser to school which takes around 45 mins. Then I have to get ready for work.

silentpool · 16/02/2023 19:57

When I'm going to the office, I try for dishwasher emptied and reloaded with breakfast stuff and kitchen basically clean. Sometimes I send the robovac around too or put a load of laundry on with the timer set to finish before I get home.

When I'm working at home, I usually do some cleaning before work or at lunchtime.

It's not spotless but I see it as a work in progress.

EarringsandLipstick · 16/02/2023 19:57

Clean, tidy & organised.

Pointless though.

DC are in before me & I fall over shoes, sports gear, a trail of uniforms, sticky knives, snacks, face cluttered work surfaces ... I hate it.

Fridaynightmare · 16/02/2023 19:58

House is usually a tip, I spend all the time I should probably spend on the house on making myself look good. I'm always shocked at how messy it is on my return.
My teens are tidier than me for sure.

swapcicles · 16/02/2023 20:03

Me and dd get up at the same time but she leaves before me usually.
I do try and tidy up but more important to get everyone fed (inc animals) breakfast and lunch made and ready for work.
Always make the bed though, just before I leave as beds need airing , however that also depends if the cats sleeping on it....

cheshirecatssmile · 16/02/2023 20:05

I normally leave the house first , so I come back to how my partner and son have left it.
Bed unmade and pots in the sink.
I ignore

Oblomov23 · 16/02/2023 20:06

Totally clean, bed made, (come on it takes 3 seconds to shake a duvet), all dishes in dishwasher, all clean. Why or earth would you not?

judesxmumx · 16/02/2023 20:06

Beds made, washing hung up, all dirty pjs in basket, all humans fed and dishes in dishwasher and occasionally dinner prepped for me getting home. Single mum and get up early so I'm organised Confused

AlmostSummer21 · 16/02/2023 20:07

My ideal is to leave it as I like to find it!

more pressing, how & I like friends/emergency services to find it. After I was in an accident I had to ask a friend to bring me some bits in hospital (she has a key) & I was brought home by hospital transport & had community nursing & specialists visit me at home. I couldn't do anything so it was as it was before my accident.

thankfully 'acceptable' but far from ideal.

that's my baseline, just in case I'm that unlucky again!!
