It is beautiful being a mum, I have a two-year-old son that just makes me live for every day that comes. I am 36 years old and soon to be 37, a first-time mum, and new to everything, my friends have children and asked me if I would have any more??? I said no! Why?? because it is a rise in of cost living and I can just get by now as you can imagine. So my partner's sister-in-law has 5 children 3 from previous partners and 2 from a current partner who is my partner's older brother now they have been trying for a baby to find she is finally pregnant ok congratulations but this a mother that has never done a days job in her life and the baby dad is 41 and can't hold a job down and forever asking to borrow money and don't pay back and the pair of them keyboard warriors their home is just a mess and smells of wee... why bring a baby into the world if you can't afford to live yourself then how you going survive with a newborn, especially in this day and age

OP posts:

Now that's a proper rant op Grin

But I do agree with you (although I've never met your sil so can't comment on their situation)

Choconut · 08/02/2023 10:29

They're feckless individuals and you're sensible. You can't change other people though so best just to concentrate on yourself.

RosaDeInvierno · 08/02/2023 10:33

what exactly do people need to realise??

is it half term already?

So she has 5 children she can’t afford (who live in squalor) and she is now having a 6th ?! And expects others (you) to help fund her bad decisions ? Cut her off.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 08/02/2023 10:45

Before I had my daughter my husband & I were all over the place - terrible at saving, partying all the time, wasting weekends in bed cus we were so hungover all the time - I was unmotivated at work - etc etc

Since she was born we are different - we both have progressed at work - i'm somehow managing a full time job, parenting and doing a college course at the same time,

We never waste weekends anymore

We saved up to buy our flat - travel etc

Maybe they'll sort their shit out once the baby is here

ShimmeringShirts · 08/02/2023 11:07

Well aren’t you a peach OP. If you’d like help with literacy there are night classes at your local college, after all how can you expect to raise a child if you can’t grasp basic spelling and grammar?

Seasonofthewitch83 · 08/02/2023 11:22

Her (inarticulate) point still stands - it can sometimes feel really frustrating that we have limited how many children we have to be responsible but others just have them without thought.

Feel sorry for them OP. Do you want to live in a wee-smelling house? Perhaps they literally don't have a pot to piss in.

Not fair on the children who often just grow up to repeat the cycle.

@MarceMarceMarce2020 YANBU but I can’t vent my voice for fear of reprisals 😳

Leemoe · 08/02/2023 12:20

Don't lend them any money. It really is that simple.

eurochick · 08/02/2023 12:30

It's like one of those AI chat bit things with a loose connection.

Have ye taken yon meds?

Iwantabloodypizza · 08/02/2023 12:44

You know, if you stood on a street corner and spouted all that out in one go, people would think you were quite mad.

Anoisagusaris · 08/02/2023 12:47

But do they know what a full stop is?

Floomobal · 08/02/2023 12:48

U ok hun?

I beg your pardon! What a ridiculous post. Just stop, and think about the content of it, and some of the reasons why people may struggle with basic spelling, and grammar.

Probably is. Or it’s voice activated software. I’d bet the OP has never been near a QWERTY keyboard. 😂

DalaiLlama · 08/02/2023 12:58

This is like if you asked a 2017 AI to write a MN post.

dontgobaconmyheart · 08/02/2023 12:59

I mean...well done OP, is that what you're after?

Other people's lives ultimately, are their business. I'm sure there are those who'd argue that if having one child in a situation where finances are just 'getting by' isn't particularly advisable either and certainly those who have other reasons for making the most of life that aren't a baby at all but it really doesn't matter, just enjoy your own family and feel fortunate that it brings you so much genuine fulfilment.

I like wine as much as anyone, but not at 9:45 in the morning.

It does annoy me when people are rewarded for having kids. I know someone who has just been given a brand new house on a new build estate by the Housing Association. And here I am working and saving. Why? I should have just had loads of kids and then claimed I was depressed.

But what really sends me over the edge is people who have loads of kids, and play the benefit system, and then don’t raise them properly. That’s what I can’t stand. I have heard SO many stories from people who’ve saved up, moved onto a new build estate, and then had their lives ruined by the vicious, amoral, feral benefit cheats next door. I’d like to force every smug Socialist, who accuses others of NIMBYism, to live next door to a ‘problem family’.

That said, the people you describe might not be bad parents. You can be lazy and feckless yet still raise decent children. My uncle, for example, never did a days work in his life, and spent his benefit money in pubs and betting shops. But he was a surprisingly good dad. He loved his children deeply, stood by them, and instilled good moral values in them. Even today, my cousins are exceptionally polite, honourable, hard-working men. And then are instilling good values in their own kids. Money isn’t the issue (I sort of take back what I said). The people who should be stopped from having kids are the ones who’ve proved they’re not fit to raise them.

They’ve been given a house? Really? So they own it now?

Andypandy799 · 08/02/2023 14:46

@WaddleAway oh give over, there’s a shortage of social housing where RENTS ARE SUBSIDISED

Some of us work hard to pay a mortgage but hey everyone should be entitled to cheap housing.

WaddleAway · 08/02/2023 14:48

I also work hard to pay a mortgage. If people need to house their children then they need to house their children. Or do you think the children should suffer because their parents are irresponsible?

thehorsehasnowbolted · 08/02/2023 14:51

I agree with you OP. I hope you are feeling better now

Well In an ideal world people wouldn’t be able to have kids until they passed an exam and proved they had the means to care for them financially and emotionally 😂

Why should tax payers pay for other peoples mistakes or offspring?
