I want to change opticians

I have become very disappointed with the appalling customer service given by my SS opticians. Which opticians do you use and are you happy with them? I need an optician for both contact lenses and glasses and don't want to pay the earth but would like an optician who is there to help the customer.

I was also a SS customer and changed over to a local Independent one and have never looked back. There is no hard sell. They picked up on a condition that I had from birth that SS did not pick up or certainly did not tell me about.

Their customer service is excellent. They have a great range of frames but are also happy if you buy your frames elsewhere. Turn around times are very fast particularly if your prescription is straight forward.

I ended up going to Asda and got an amazing pair of glasses with thinned lenses for £60. Years had a very thorough eye check.similar glasses at SS used to set me back £250. And I went to Cost for my contact lenses and they were so much cheaper despite being made by the same manufacturers. Really pleased with both Asda and Costco and not hard sales.

I've always had good experiences with Specsavers.

@wondabar It's going to be very area dependent.

I'm an optometrist and I've worked as a locum in many different practices and they're all very different, even between different branches of the same business. Probably the worst one I ever worked in was a branch of Boots, but then I've worked in several which have given good customer service, patient care and haven't been expensive.

I would ask on a local facebook page or next door group.
