For me best: Steve as boyfriend, Anthony as best friend!

Worst: Burger!

100% this. He always seemed likely to turn into an emotional abuser, using coercive control to turn Carrie into the suburban housewife he wanted, whilst convincing the world that he was a good guy.

Yes! She would never have been happy with him. He was stifling.

rookiemere · 06/02/2023 16:13

I was never that keen on Steve. He seemed to spend most of his time berating Miranda for being a career woman, whilst simultaneously being quite happy to benefit from her earnings and left hard on graft of childcare and looking after his DM down to her.

Now Harry was a sweetie.

Smith was the ultimate. Accepted Samantha for who she was (he waiting at the lift when she went and shagged Richard, wanting to make sure she got home ok 😢) and didn’t ever try to change, shame or tame her. Shaved his head, openly went to therapy when she had cancer, told her when her Cancer (‘fuck the cancer cookie’s speech was dry, accepted their break up and took her to his premier (even if the 2nd movie was an abomination).

All that and seriously hot.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 06/02/2023 17:38

Best was definitely Smith although weirdly I kind of liked Richard too for Samantha. They seemed to suit each other in terms of outlook and sexual appetite.

Loved Harry. Think Trey was harshly judged as it was Charlotte who didn't want to sleep with him before they got married.

Worst... Berger, Aiden and Petrovsky.

I don’t recall Steve ever berating Miranda for being a career woman.

He berated her for not ever giving them a serious chance as a couple. For being negative and too cynical sometimes. But never for being a career woman.

rookiemere · 06/02/2023 18:35

@ComfortablyDazed ok maybe berated is too strong a word, but I never felt he respected her for it. What she actually deserved was a cheerleader for her career accomplishments, but with Steve it felt like the attention had to be on him and he was too ready to feel emasculated.

But I suppose compared to some of the other characters he wasn't totally awful.

Best Anthony line for me:

"Hold on for dear life and for gods sake keep your legs closed! No one wants to see the brides beaver!" 😂😂

My favourite was
" can you think of anything worse?" ( charlotte)
Anthony; Stonewashed jeans and a matching jacket 😂

me and my bestie use it regularly

mildlydispeptic · 07/02/2023 19:40

Anthony: "The Hora! The Hora!"

I agree Richard was good (except for the cheating bit), I don't know why I didn't really like Smith. He was great to her, but I think she needed a 'stonger' man.
When I think of the couples, only Harry and Charlotte were the perfect match, but I guess that's the same with life

HelloBunny · 07/02/2023 21:13

Big. Of course!

But, really... Harry.

My fave scene in the whole show is when Charlotte & Harry are reunited.

Minteraye · 07/02/2023 21:29

Think most of the main ones have been mentioned, but I quite liked that bass player in his 20s (with the skanky apartment) 😄

I liked Big, but maybe if I watched it for the first time now I’d think he was a prick 😉

He definitely isn’t worse than Aiden anyway 🙄😑

CandleInTheStorm · 07/02/2023 21:46

It's funny how Big was portrayed as the bad guy in seasons 1 and 2. He just didn't want to rush, although he didn't then help himself when he married "the 20 something stick figure with no soul" aka Natasha (who was a nice character) after 5 minutes in Paris.

I honestly think he just wasn't "that into her" at the beginning. I think he didn't actually love her until after they had the affair.
