What was this man up to?

Keep coming back to something strange that I saw on Thursday evening and wanted some opinions on what was going on.

Was at my local gastropub for an early dinner, probably about 7pm I went to the loo. There's a big wooden door from the dining area of the pub which leads to a staircase. A set of stairs leads up to the mens loos and there are three or four stairs leading down to the women's. There's nothing else there it's just the loos.

When I came out of the women's loo there was a tall youngish man waiting by the door which leads back into the pub. I walked up the three or four stairs towards him. He then stepped around me and walked down the stairs to the women's loo and went as if to open the door. I turned back and said "that's the women's loo".

He looked up and said "oh I'm a bit lost'.

I went back into the pub and he came out after.

I can't help feeling that he was up to something?

You're either deliberately missing the point or don't have the necessary cognitive abilities to understand the potential situations that can now arise due to the change in culture surrounding gendered toilets.

The poor young man was probably more scared of the suspicious OP….and I sincerely hope he never bumps into Babdoc

Im well aware that gendered toilets are becoming the norm.
I suggest you lock all your door and windows too and never venture out again because who knows what next will become the norm.

Mixed hospital wards presumably, or perhaps men in women's prisons.......oh, wait 🙄

Drunk needing a pee in an unfamiliar pub, how extraordinary.

Then he should blame the men who do predate upon women, not on women for being cautious or anxious when navigating life outside.

I shall be warning my son to be very careful when looking for the loo in pubs in future because you never know what he may be accused of!

He may have time travelled from the past back to his local which now has a different layout therefore he was (as he explained) ‘a bit lost’.

How are we supposed to know the answer to this? The guy already explained to you that he was lost. What is stranger is posting this in an online forum. How do you expect anyone to know what he was ‘up to’? And what can we do about it, anyway? Absolutely ridiculous.

Waiting for the all clear before he went in to ‘meet’ his girlfriend?!

I ended up going into the men's toilet once...luckily there was no-one to witness my rather hasty retreat.

Or maybe he had just left the gents, remembered he'd walked up stairs to get there so assumed OP was coming from the Bar area?.

I was polite to the young man and am not "obviously unhinged". I also doubt he was "more scared of" me since he was well over six foot and I'm a small middle aged woman.

I've been followed into toilets when I was younger and so have a lot of women. He followed me back into the bar so that was that.

He was trying to find the loo

Precisely, I wonder if people like this know just how much of a danger they actually pose to certain groups/types of people by treating them with suspicion for the mere act of existing in a place where someone thinks they shouldn't be.

To call you unhinged is rude and I apologise.
But to start a thread because you found a young man outside the women’s toilets in a pub last Thursday is perhaps a bit daft.
But, thanks for the entertainment.
