Never had one before so don't know what's worth having and what isn't in terms of features. Definitely not looking for a wi-fi connected model. £700 is our limit, including delivery and we would like a C energy rating if possible (I think a B or A will be out of our price range). What brands are best for longevity as that's probably top of the list? Do you prefer a basket or upper tray for cutlery? I've been searching online for weeks and getting more and more flummoxed as to what we should get so would really appreciate some recommendations of great dishwashers or warnings about what to avoid! 😬

If you’re short on time, here’s a summary of the dishwasher brands Mumsnetters are recommending on this thread:

🏆 Bosch Series 6 SMS6ZCW00G Wifi Connected Standard Dishwasher, £649 - the dishwasher the OP opted for

🧽 Indesit D2FHK26UK Standard Dishwasher, £279

🍽 Hisense HV673B60UK Wifi Connected Fully Integrated Standard Dishwasher, £569

Plus for a deeper dive into the wonderful world of kitchen appliances, don't miss our guide to the best dishwashers according to Mumsnetters.

We have a Bosch , it was about £450 2 years ago and is fairly basic but it has a nice range of programmes and you can select to halve the time on most of them . It has a cutlery tray which was a must for me as we’d always had baskets before , the tray is much better .

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 04/02/2023 18:13

Mine’s a Bosch too. My first ever and it’s everything I ever dreamt of 😉

trilbydoll · 04/02/2023 18:14

We have a HiSense integrated dishwasher. From day 1 things only got clean on the long 70° wash. Dreadful build quality - the display broke within weeks and now 2 years on we can't use the top tray. Avoid like the plague.

I do like the top tray for cutlery but if you don't load it exactly like they think you should the water can't get up there and it doesn't all get clean. So it depends if you're going to be a dishwasher rebel and put saucepans in the top rack or not.

I'd swear by Bosch. Reasonably priced for efficiency.

Our last one (slimline) was still working when we left it after 13 years. It was easy to use

New house also came with a Bosch. 3 and a half years in and it's a dream.

I don't think I'd even consider anything else now tbh

My dishwasher is 6ft 4 and he does all of the washing up sorry no help here

We got a Kenwood one of all things! When we moved in there was an ancient one already here and we were hoping it would last until we replace the kitchen hoping this year but more likely next year now. It went bang literally, a few months ago. We just chose one with decent reviews that was cheap. It's actually great! Everything is super clean, no streaks/cloudiness and it doesn't end up smelling damp inside. £270
It's this one

We have a Bosch. Cutlery tray, not basket. Fab. Do it.

Lol 😁Me and my DP take it in turns to wash up but we both hate it! We've waited a very long time to live somewhere with the space to install a dishwasher and I'm quite gleeful at the thought of it!

Bosch 5 yrs old, good, reliable and reasonably priced

WordInYourShellLike · 04/02/2023 18:33

Aha thanks all, lot's of Bosch recommendations, that's been at the top of my list! I've been looking at the Series 6 SMS6ZCW00G but still not sure if it's wi-fi connected as some websites say it is and some say it isn't. Most confusing. If you get one with wi-fi connectivity can you just not use it? I'm really coming up against my own ignorance here - we have no smart tech at all at home and don't want or need any. But seems daft to pay for it and then not use it. Any specific Bosch models anyone can vouch for?

We have a Bosch Serie 6 which was £660 from Marks Electrical just over a year ago.

It has a bottom cutlery basket, top tray and WiFi but we never use it and I don't know why you'd use it TBH. I tried to connect it to the WiFi but it wouldn't do it so I just left it.

The best thing is the extra fitting at the back which means you can remove the too basket and wash big things like oven door glass and kitchen bins.

BarbaraofSeville · 04/02/2023 19:10

Forgot to say it's very good, also our last dishwasher was also a Bosch, cheapest one available, very basic, about £260, lasted 7 or 8 years which was a bit of a disappointment, most of our appliances make it well into their teens, our fridge is coming up to 25 and we're only going to get rid of it because it costs a fortune in electricity now.

The same. It's brilliant 😊

FarethemFareMeFareYou · 04/02/2023 19:14

Just make sure you get one with a pull out cutlery tray at the top rather than a basket in the bottom.

They are a game changer!

Caspianberg · 04/02/2023 19:15

Bosch series 6 also - it’s very good value.

We also have the Bosch series 4 I think in holiday let. It’s an older model and about 4 years old now. But actually works the same, but no fancy floor timer ( just light) and it had physical buttons instead of touch which some people prefer

FarethemFareMeFareYou · 04/02/2023 19:18

I've had Miele and Bosch in the past but this time went for a Hisense with cutlery tray as this particular model has a larger capacity (big family).

I am VERY happy with it and would get another!

Very good value for money!

NeonBoomerang · 04/02/2023 19:19

Do dishwashers actually clean pans or do you hqve to pre wash thrm? Are you supposed to rinse plates?

Luredbyapomegranate · 04/02/2023 19:19

I have a little table top one because I have no room.

so only to say you will adore it and never look back

Yes they clean pans and no, nothing needs to be prewashed or rinsed.

FenghuangHoyan · 04/02/2023 19:24

I've got a Bosch and it's been excellent. Had to repair it at one point as a sensor died, but a bit of googling helped figute out the problem. Which magazine rates Bosch which is why I got this one.

Top cutlery tray is better than a basket.

greenacrylicpaint · 04/02/2023 19:26

bosch here as well. it's about 6 years old and going strong.
the eco cycle is very energy efficient and 'only' takes 2.5 hours so is practical to turn on after dinner.
and it's very quiet.

BarrelOfOtters · 04/02/2023 19:29

We’ve got a Bosch, top cutlery tray, top shelf drops so you can put big glasses in it.

rwalker · 04/02/2023 19:32

Had hoover, hotpoint and curry’s own brand £199 one

can honestly there wasn’t a great deal of difference between the cheapest and the one that cost £300 more

only really use 2 programs some racks were better than others but I think that was more to do with our crockery rather than the racks

not too fussy so if the occasional thing doesn’t come clean I’ll just leave it in and run it through again

hidingbehindascreen · 04/02/2023 19:35

14, and sometimes leave suds on...

FarethemFareMeFareYou · 04/02/2023 19:36

A friend and ourselves both had a Bosch previously and we got the same error code within a couple of months of each other.

The problem was over £200 to put right so we both bought new machines!
