Shall I ask my postie out for a coffee?

It's obvious he fancies me & he's half suggested it already. I guess he knows I'm single because he sees my mail & no partner around. I don't know for 100% if he's single though... wwyd?

Eh? He actually turned and ran when he saw you? I'm not getting the impression he's that into you.

His face lights up, it's obvs he likes me. He probably thought better of it in that moment as he was still on shift.

I say go for it 😁

I got a shock as I stepped out the front door not expecting him and he was just about to knock to hand over a parcel. I said he was lucky to catch me as I was just popping out for a coffee and he said 'Perhaps I should come with you some time'... with a big grin. We laughed. He is very handsome...😁

That's not a half suggestion!!

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 02/02/2023 20:43

MN is chock-full of women harassing men going about their everyday jobs! So strange.

Cascais · 02/02/2023 20:43

Yes

Somanysocks · 02/02/2023 20:46

Don't pass up an opportunity, he sounds like he likes you. I wouldn't call it harrassing a man at work for goodness sake.

Batcountry8 · 02/02/2023 20:46

Do it.
He likes you!

SummerWinds · 02/02/2023 20:58

Would you not worry he could possibly do same with most other females on his round?
My postie asked me out not long after my husband died, and he had a girlfriend.
My sister is a postwoman and says a lot of them have affairs at work.
Yours might be different, hopefully.

HateandLove · 02/02/2023 21:03

i'm imagining the mail guy in Legally Blonde.

Better off doing the Bend and Snap, to ensnare him !!

TomatoSandwiches · 02/02/2023 21:03

No I don't think that's a good idea, it's similar to a female waitress being kind and polite and a single man thinking she must have the hots, she probably doesn't and nothing you've said indicates he likes you that much either.

Sorry.

Tamarindtree · 02/02/2023 21:09

No. I’m an old codger and our young postman is friendly to me exactly as you describe.

SmileyClare · 02/02/2023 21:15

I guess this is what happens when you work from home; you start fantasising about the only human you interact with during your day ; the postman 😂

It sounds like you like each other and he’s perhaps a bit socially inept.

Start up some small talk, find out if he has a partner and then suggest meeting at the coffee shop for some vossy bop on his next strike day?

Crazykefir · 02/02/2023 21:24

You need to find out if hes single.

Mojo777 · 02/02/2023 21:30

If only there was a way to subtly ask if there is a gf in the equation. 🙂

plumduck · 02/02/2023 21:35

Ooh on valentines day ask if he's had to deliver loads of cards? Then ask if he's doing anything nice?

qpmz · 02/02/2023 21:35

Toomuchinfor · 02/02/2023 20:28

I wouldn't because what if you want to leave things and he's still got an excuse to turn up every morning? So messy.

and what if they find true love and happiness?

Tamarindtree · 02/02/2023 21:38

Why would he abruptly run out of a coffee shop?

Thats odd and immature behaviour and makes him seem a bit of a wuss so that would instantly rule him out for me if I was young again.

catinboots123 · 02/02/2023 21:44

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/02/2023 20:17

It would be terribly embarrassing if he said no and you still live there!

Aw MrsTb? Don't you rem the lovely poster with the builder and teeth in/teeth out? Dano the outcome but it was heartwarming

AngieBolen · 02/02/2023 21:45

Well, my MIL did. The postie was 10 years younger than her, and they've now been married for about 25 years. She's not happy with him though, so it wasn't a fairytale ending....

GalaxyBlobs · 02/02/2023 21:46

Go for it! The worst that will happen is rejection and awkwardness. (Unless of course the relationship goes tits up and he becomes hostile/a stalker but that's also fearing the absolute worst!)

The alternative is never trying and wondering!

Rayn22 · 02/02/2023 21:46

I wouldn't ask him out but maybe get flirty and see if he responds. The only problem is if you do go out and think nope not for me. It could be awkward!

Batcountry8 · 02/02/2023 21:51

To be fair op hid in her phone as well as postie running out of coffee place.

Maybe he was just embarrassed he'd mentioned going for a coffee and then when he saw op in a coffee environment he didn't know what to do for the best.

Maybe it's not all sinister.

EarringsandLipstick · 02/02/2023 22:00

I think someone asked this years ago

There have been several similar scenarios I recall. Amazes me, the handsome posties posters are able to strike up a rapport with.

Summerfun54321 · 02/02/2023 22:02

Somewhere on a Reddit forum your postman has written "I've asked a woman out for a coffee who has no idea I've asked her out". OP he has already asked you out!! Just say next time you see him "when are you planning on joining me for this coffee then"

Zonder · 02/02/2023 22:12

Maybe just try and engage him in conversation first for a bit and try and work out if he's single?
