OMG Crazy Costa caffeine

I knew it! On the rare time I’d drink a coffee at Costa I’d come out feeling like I’d just done a line if coke (well, never done it but must be similar). Have always avoided it since except for the odd hot chocolate.

I love Starbucks and find it very comforting. The one in a Kyoto tea house is particularly restful.

I believe it was the late great Sean Lock who said it Starbucks tastes like tax evasion.

I guess judging by some of the responses there’s a market for it. Not a fan of Starbucks - doesn’t taste much of proper coffee, or Costa - much too strong. I like something normal in between!

I do think 325mg of caffeine in a standard coffee/cappuccino is a bit OTT though - that’s four cans of Redbull! If you Google a generic cup of coffee it will give you 95mg, so Costa’s 325mg is definitely one to be aware of! The recommended daily intake during pregnancy is 200mg, so a couple of cups of Costa would put you miles over that.

Costa is vile, always tastes burnt. They probably up the caffeine to try and disguise the revolting burnt taste. Starbucks is also vile, indie coffee shops are do much better than either imo.

So was I. I always prefer Costa over Starbucks and now I know why. If I'm buying coffee I want caffeine.

I heard people in the queue ordering an extra shot - that's a lot of caffeine.

Ugh hate Starbucks it tastes foul. I prefer the flavour of Costa but have to say I've never noticed feeling particularly over caffeinated. Although mostly now if I'm getting a Costa I get it from a machine (don't judge me!)

now I know why that is my go to coffee place! Starbucks is dirty hot water, as far as I can tell.
