6 hours in LA - what should we do?

I posted once about a stop in San Fran (have NC since then) and got some bloody amazing advice, which we followed!

We have 6 hours in LA in July en route somewhere, where should we go? We have DC age 6 and 9.

LA Airport and city is very different to San Francisco. I would be staying close to the airport and would probably do the beach as pp suggested.

Personally I would avoid Santa Monica & Venice beach. Have a look at Manhattan beach, its a lovely little beach town about 20 minutes from the airport.

Unfortunately you don't really have time to do anything other than go to the local beach. And then probably only for an hour.
