I was sat on the top deck of a bus behind two teens who looked older, but from their conversation are building up to do their GCSEs.

Boy 1, 'What've you got on Monday?'
Boy 2 'Ahhh DT innit'
Boy 1 'What're you making?'
Boy 2 'Ahhh, bear-shit man'.. (to which boy 1 nods)

So Design & Technology I'm guessing? I have no idea what this involves, in my day it was woodwork/metalwork or needlework.. 😂What type of object is a bear-shit DT object?

I told 13 yr DS last night he was "bear rude" when I picked him up from a swimming gala and had the audacity to ask how he'd got on. He started shouting and screaming about how I'm always asking him stupid questions and to 'shut up fam'. So yes, I said he was "bear rude". The eye rolling/huffing & puffing was epic.

mine would have been walking home after that

@Hoppinggreen I was very close to it, but apparently he was absolutely desperate for a wee and I'd not risk him having a wild wee in the middle of Lewisham in the dark. Maybe I called that wrong mind.

I listen to what my teen DSD says but I'm on IG a lot and see things in comments, so it's easy to pick up. I remember how I used to wind my mum up with my slang back in the 90s-2000s.

'Cap' = lie, so saying "I met Adele, no cap" means I met Adele, I'm not lying. Usually used for something meant to be impressive, not everyday boring stuff. You can comment "cap" after someone says something, like "bullshit."

'Salty' = resentful, jealous, etc. You can accuse someone of being salty when they keep making passive aggressive comments about your new car.

'Drip' = really cool clothing or style. "He's got major drip"

'It's giving' = mostly used as a compliment. It used to be said like "It's giving Cruella/Gucci/Monty Don" ie it's giving me the vibes of... but now just said on it's own "it's giving." and it's a compliment. Usually there's a two-handed gathering air gesture with this phrase, hard to explain haha

'Hits different' = groundbreaking, new, innovative, stands out eg "This burger sauce just hits different."

'Bet' = an old slang word that's come back. Affirmative, approving. "See you at the party tonight?" Bet.

I love talking teen to my kids

Yesterday one of my 18yo friends served me in a shop and was friendly, so I told my 18 yo his friend had mum-rizz over dinner. Teens nearly died of embarrassment

Also enjoy telling them they look drippy and peng/leng

It's so funny. I slay at teen embarrassment

Mum-rizz 🤣 I'm dying!

Strathyre · 02/02/2023 20:03

Just to say I'm 35 and dont know any teenagers, that was totally comprehensible to me. Bare shit = lots of stuff

Comefromaway · 03/02/2023 08:42

Mum -rizz? Isn’t rizz like flirting/trying to pick someone up?

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 04/02/2023 18:11

@dzdzdxdz Your thread has made 'Talk Round Up' 😀

thetrees · 04/02/2023 18:19

Loving 'mid' and looking forward to using it Wink

HoarHouse · 04/02/2023 19:20

You Rob him, it's that some kind of slang, or should I be notifying social services? 😂

HoarHouse · 04/02/2023 19:21

A load of shit.
